Hi. Happy Memorial Day weekend 2022! As of the time of the posting of this it's Sunday May 29th, 2022 and Monday is the big holiday.

Are you doing anything special for the holiday?

I'm curious.

Please help. Thank you.

@JGoldman10,
Whitsun bank holiday has been moved this year because of the Jubilee.

Instead we have next Thursday and Friday off.

We will be taking my Brazilian daughter in law to a Jubilee picnic on Thursday.

Surprised you don't acknowledge Whitsuntide, it is a Christian holiday celebrating Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles.

@jespah,
We do that on Remembrance Sunday, around 11th November.

The Whitsun Holidsy was the half term break in the Summer, a week off school before the exams for the older kids, sports days and such for the rest.

When I was a kid we used to ho to Devon for the week, and ironically I was often ill, about half the time we went I caught some bug or other.

@izzythepush,
November 11 here is Veterans Day which is for the living. I know a lot of people conflate them.

PS Was Devon trying to kill you?

@jespah,
I don't know.

I remember one year feeling ill on the Friday evening, feeling worse Saturday morning but still having to sit in the car all the way there. It's about a four hour drive without stops, and we stopped.

One year they had to call the doctor out.

Obviosly I had more good than bad years, but I must have been ill on at least three separate occasions.
