"In 2007, Alexander Acosta, then the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, was in charge of prosecuting Epstein who had been credibly accused of sexually molesting over 30 minors. Acosta agreed to a shocking plea deal. Despite charges that could have and should have put Epstein and any co-conspirators away for the rest of their lives, Acosta agreed to a plea deal that basically amounted to zero punishment for Epstein (18 months in a minimum-security prison where he was allowed to leave during the day to go to the office). Even more shockingly, the plea deal included the granting of immunity for all potential co-conspirators. Legal experts say they have never seen anything like it.

When asked why he granted Epstein such a sweetheart deal, Alex Acosta stated that he had been told by his superiors that Epstein, "belonged to intelligence" "

The father

Robert Maxwell’s life read like a novel, having variously been suspected of working for the British, Israeli and Soviet secret services.

The Czechoslovakia-born businessman was born to Jewish parents who would be killed by the Nazis, and came to Britain penniless at the age of 16.

He changed his name from Jan Ludvik Hyman Binyamin Hoch and fought for the British Army during World War II, going on to set up a publishing business after the end of hostilities.
