Hi I want to be a psychiatrist but I don't know where to start. I am in highschool, nearly finished, and I was wondering if there was any psychiatrists out there that could possibly give me advice on the right approach or maybe good insight into the world of psychiatrists. Also if possible could they maybe give ma a few tips on where alot of psychiatrist are needed, in England if possible. If they could also direct me to a prosperous field I could work in or just give me a general headstart somewhere. Thankyou. All advice is very much appreciated.

cut.up.angel- Welcome to A2K! Very Happy

First, there is a big difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist. A psychiatrist has to first be a medical doctor, and then specialize in psychiatry.

From what you say, I am assuming that you live in Great Britain. I think that these sites will be helpful to you:

Good luck!

You might wish to research the difference between a psychologist and psychiatrist.

In the US, a psychiatrist typically sees a patient just to prescribe medicine. Furthermore, a psychiatrist has to complete medical school, internship, residency, etc.

A psychologist performs therapy. Plus, psychologists may be getting limited script privileges.
