Some times you must resort to an extreme measure to surmount an extreme obstacle. Great move Mr. President

Yeah kinda like what Goldwater said. Probblem was the nation believed him and suggested he take a hike. Sad really because he was, at the very least, a man of integrity, probably never see that again inside the beltway.
In your heart you know he's right.
In your heart you know he might.

John Bolton is now the US Ambassador to the UN.......... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Welcome to Bush Hardball.......US Senate.

I heard something today........perhaps it can substantiated by a participant.......and this was in anticipation of the howls from the left......that Clinton used the recess appointment bypass, 147 times during his 8 years of corruption and abuse in the WH.

Yea, but not to put someone as unsuited to be an ambassador to the UN as Bolton is.

Yes.....and what about this SUPREME COURT ACTIVITY BY IKE?

President Dwight Eisenhower made three recess appointments to the Supreme Court: Chief Justice Earl Warren (1953) and Associate Justices William Brennan (1956) and Potter Stewart (1958). Each later received Senate confirmation.

No, more like he will work to trigger so much disruption inside it that it blows apart. Then it will be replaced by an organisation that is much more amenable to the dictates of the US. SOP.

How do you imagine Bolton is going to accomplish that? Does the US have power to fire or get rid of members or to force other members to their will? Or do you imagine that Bolton will be just persuasive that the other members will start thinking in the conservative ultra right kind of mold and change their ways? Just how is he going to clean house? Personally I don't think the other members are going to give him the time of day.

The man deserved an up or down vote. Stop your endless crying and place the blame at the Democrats inability to win an election.

To me all the politics seems second place to the thought that Bolton is actually going to representing the United States at the UN. He is not suited to the job. You can't bully the UN into becoming Bush America.

You have no basis in fact to make such a statement that he is "not suited for the job". You base that conclusion of statements made by Democrats who do not like to be spoken to in a direct fashion.

The UN is made up in the majority of crooked dictators, rogue regimes and communist nations that want nothing but to make the US (and England for that matter) a second rate member. They want to diminish the role the US takes while "stealing" our resources for personal gain.

If it is reform you want at the UN, you need someone to stand up to these criminals. If you want to have the UN continue to crap on the US, just keep sending puppets as ambassador.

This recess appointment should send "shivers" down the spine of Kofi and crew as they MUST know that Bolton has the hotline to the PResident of the US.
