Almost 3 weeks to the day, Bean discovered her nose.
With in an hour of that discovery, I was recovering green crayon bits
from inside of it.
Since then, I believe she has packed an entire house hold in that little thing. Laughing

Any tips on how to get things outta kids' noses?
She doesnt have anything stuck in there NOW.. I just want to learn some things before she does.

With adults, I would use tweezers ( in some cases ) , squeeze from the bridge of the nose down, cover the empty nostril and let them blow through the impacted one..

but, no idea how to get small things dislodged from Bean size noses?

The only safe way to do this is at a doctor's office.

"With adults..." You mean you had to take things out of an adult's nose!?!

I am almost afraid to ask - what adult would put something up their nose?

O-K, I feel much better now. I was concerned maybe your husband had some sort of issues with his nose.

I gotta tell him that one.

I worked with alzheimers patients almost 9 years.
You would be surprised how much like children they are.
If they were not 3 times my age, It would almost be endearing.
I have found pencils, tampons, paper, pills, rocks, poop, food and kleenex among other things , up some of my pantient's noses.
It is amazing how much that little cavity can hold. Laughing

I worked in a nursing home in high school. Fortunately for me part of my job was not to remove foreign objects from nostrils - not sure I would be able to handle that.

I did love some of the patients. I quickly found that many of them had some wonderful stories. Some had great memories of their past. And most, once you showed them a little attention and listened to them would really surprise you.

It also made me a little sad to see some that were so lonely. I remember one patient (I worked in the kitchen) who I would help bring her back to her room after dinner or lunch and I would chit chat with her the whole walk. She would also ask me to stay (her eyes just pleaded) and talk with her a while - really made me feel for her.

nursing homes are toxic .
I hate them. I always have.
Nothing more heartbreaking then someone who has had such a long full life, not being able to care for themselves because of a failing body.

Boy, we agree there.

On nasal exploration - back when I was a lab tech in training I had to do nasal smears for eosinophils. Those are white blood cells that are increased when people have allergies. Well, hey, a nasal smear, eh? So you have to go high up with one of these long q-tip like things, to get the goodies. I never wanted to make people uncomfortable - I bet I didn't explore far enough. Luckily I didn't stay in that department and only had to do it a few times.

Which brings up q-tips and their equivalents. Has anyone noticed they are becoming positively flaccid as years go by?
They're getting to be totally useless for a good ear scratch.
I know, I know, I know, already, never ever put a q-tip in your ear. I've been doing it a half century without a problem. Not that I recommend it to others.
