However, interrogations of nearly 300 Saudis captured trying to sneak into Iraq and case studies of more than three dozen others who blew themselves up in suicide attacks show that most were heeding calls to drive infidels out of Arab land, according to a study by Saudi investigator Nawaf Obaid.

An analysis of 154 foreign fighters compiled by a leading terrorism researcher found that despite the presence of some senior al-Qaida operatives, "the vast majority of non-Iraqi Arabs killed in Iraq have never taken part in any terrorist activity prior to their arrival in Iraq."

Interesting studies, actually, but shouldn't be surprising. A trained cadre of instigators, who seldom take big chances with their own lives, doing a sales job on the mob. . . .

Of course even the best salesperson needs some reasonable material to work with and the invasion and occupation of Iraq was just what they wanted.

Hang on a minute! Hang on a minute!

The Israelis and Saudis, both allies of America, interviewed several potential terrorists and murderers entering the country and didn't detain a single one?

154? They interviewed 154, all of whom will be involved in the taking of American lives and possibly any surrounding lives, maybe British, Iraqi... and they didn't arrest them?

154? Is that representative of all terrorists entering Iraq? For a clinical trial to be effective, it has to go into thousands, not hundreds.

Now, I personally would love to see this statement true. It would prove beyond a doubt that Bush is unworthy and that my criticisms of him are justified. However, that study doesn't seem to be representative nor does it seem empirically or even statistically sound.

Of course, this all depends on how many insurgents are in Iraq at the moment.

If the insurgency is as small as the US once claimed, then 154 is probably most of them and they should have been arrested.

If it is large, then this 154 is not representative and that means there are an insanely large number in Iraq that needs to be dealt with.

I am deeply worried by this study, but not for the same reasons.
