@izzythepush,
LOL as we already cover the fact that Americans was dying long before pearl harbor attack in direct combat on your nation behalf.

Not to dare to mention that your leader in ww2 was half american by blood and the american people treated him far better with far more respect then the English people did after the war.

Even granting him honorary US citizenship.

@BillRM,
And you constantly ignore the role Henry Ford played in funding Hitler.

You’re like Max, selective with the facts, ignoring stuff that doesn’t fit your hypothesis.

@izzythepush,
So one man who was going into dementia is more important then the many Americans who enter combat on your nation side many dying as a result or the federal government who bend every known rule concerning the role of a neutral nation with one US warship being sunk with all hands as a result?

@BillRM,
Wtf.

Not only did Ford give his profits to the Nazis, Ford and General Motors benefited from the use of Nazi slave Labour. Yet you dismiss that as the harmless whimsy of a senile old man.

You ignore all evidence that contradicts your narrative and over exaggerate America’s contribution. And it’s always WW2 with you. It’s like America didn’t anything worthwhile after the fall of Japan.

Leaving the Battle Of Britain and the Battle Of The River Plate to one side, the first significant defeats Hitler faced were Stalingrad and El Alamein, neither of which America was directly involved with.

When America did get involved Rommel inflicted a heavy defeat at Kasserine.

@BillRM,
If the U.S.A. had not been so self serving and greedy, the Japanese might not have had the ability to bomb Pearl Harbor!
Even with full and complete knowledge of many of the atrocities being perpetrated and long range power goals of the Japanese, the U.S.A. kept shipping steel and other things to them. After all, what was a risk of being obliterated worth in comparison to the mighty dollars to be amassed through trade?

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. I don't think it's anti-American to want people to be safe during a pandemic. It's going to be more difficult to vote this year because they can't find enough people willing to risk their health to man the polling places. I think having fewer places to vote, and Trump stating he wants to pack the court so 9 Justices can decide this election is the real anti-American statement. With our democracy at stake, I can't honestly take the time to give a **** over a parade. We can have a parade next year, but this might be the last time the citizens of the United States get to select the President.

The attack on the Parade was not limited to this year under this set of medical conditions and that what I was clearly referring to.

You are not clearly referring to anything. There will be parades in the future, but right now the country is shut down because of a pandemic. I want to be able to vote, not have to mourn for more people who will die alone in hospitals and whose loved ones won;'t even be able to have a funeral or a memorial service.

I've served this country, and between my husband and myself we have a combined service of 85 years. So stuff your views on anti-americanism somewhere else, you are embarrassing yourself.

@glitterbag,
Why the hell do you think for a moment that there is not a drive to do away completely of such parades beginning with the excused of a pandemic?

Was it the pandemic that started the movement to do away with Columbia Day?

Once more I have no problem for one year doing away or limiting such parades due to health concerns but that is not the issue as can be seen by the current postings.

Let be honest here if you can be honest at least.

Would you care for me to list all the anti Columbia day attempts going back for decades long long before the current pandemic?

I haven't seen any drive to do away with parades that weren't connected to concern about the pandemic. Personally I think the "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" is asinine but I've never heard anyone else say so and I certainly haven't called for the holiday itself to be done away with.

If you're talking about Columbus Day, there's no movement to do away with the holiday, just to change the name. (I don't agree with the name change but as far as I know the so-called "holiday" is secure.)

@BillRM,
Has your brain melted or something?

You’re even more incoherent that usual.

I don’t know anything about your holidays, and I’ve got better things to do than list them for you.

You do know that all of those characters like Charlie Brown and Snoopy aren’t real? They’re just people in costumes or really big balloons. There’s no commie plot to kill Mickey Mouse, so you can sit down and soothe your distempered brain.

Colombia Day? Why do they get one and not Fox, Paramount or United Artists?

You're joking right?
There's even a song about Charlie Brown!

...and don't worry about knowledge of the U.S.A. holidays. Most people here in the States are clueless about them. They're seen as sales days, days off from work or school and in good weather, visits to the beach or something else and barbecues.

@Sturgis,
Over here they’re given the generic term ‘bank holiday,’ as those are days when the banks were shut.

The only one that people get hot and bothered over is May Day because it was introduced by the Labour Government when Sunny Jim Callaghan was pm. It coincides with international workers day and is seen as a Socialist holiday.

The Tories often moan about it but won’t get rid of it because of votes. However, they often shift it, it was moved this year because of the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
