The Greatest Insult?

Reply Mon 24 Mar, 2003 02:37 am
In politics, the greatest insult used in recent years was probably to call someone a Nazi and to make comparisons with the past activities of Adolph Hitler and his henchmen.

Some might consider that actions by the U.S. Administration have made this no longer true and it is now far more insulting and offensive around the world to call someone a Republican or Bush, Cheney or Rumsfeld supporter? Embarrassed

The Bush admin is working hard to get it comparable.

The kind of warfare is maybe uncomparable. But the ratio behind the war is more similar than you think. They both staged some events to get a causa belli.

Of course, like most Germans in the 1930s, too few Republicans realised the consequences of their votes and the adverse effects upon domestic and international opinions.

I am.

Germany invaded Poland for a fake reason.
The US invades Iraq for a fake reason(i hope we agree on the fake reason?)

Show me where i'm wrong!

I dont say Bush is Hitler and Rumsfeld is Goebbels. But they are trying hard to convince the people in the world they are. And thats what counts=> People's perception of a situation. Not the situation as such.

The People in the US think the Iraqi are longing to be freed by the Americans and therefore support this war. But that is not how the Iraqi see this. Like i said many times before. They see the US army as an imperialistic army. So here again its (American) People their perception of the situation. Not the situation as such.

Hitler,A. could invade Poland owing to the Western democracies' hesitance in opposing him.

We Bomb, They Suffer.

Extract-There is something sick, obscene about these hospital visits. We bomb. They suffer. Then we turn up and take pictures of their wounded children. The Iraqi minister of health decides to hold an insufferable press conference outside the wards to emphasise the "bestial" nature of the American attack. The Americans say that they don't intend to hurt children. And Doha Suheil looks at me and the doctors for reassurance, as if she will awake from this nightmare and move her left leg and feel no more pain.

The reality is stern. I am very sorry about the disaster to private citizens. It's horrible.

And you really think the parents of these children are going to welcome the U.S as liberators? The bombing may stop, but this war will continue for generations.

It is the reality of international politics and war. I do not like politics, in fact.

As Bush and Rumsfeld might sing "We've got our oil to keep us warm".
