She got a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) for her thesis on quantum chemistry.

I have no idea - in German, the holder of the office of the Federal Chancellor is either "Frau Bundeskanzlerin" (if female) or "Herr Bundeskanzler" (male).
I know there is Frau and Fraulein in German, but does Frau specify that a woman is married or is it a general term for any adult woman? In English there is Ms. and Mrs. depending on whether she's married, and I think Madam might be a general term that doesn't specify marital status, but I'm not sure.
I think "Madam President" or "Madam Chancellor" sounds right, but then there could be other ways of addressing males, such as "Sir President," but Mr. is easy because it is a general term used for any male regardless of marital status.
