The lead story on this Sunday's (26 June 2005) edition of the round-table program, "To the Contrary," was a poll taken of "religious women (if that term was defined, it may have been done before I tuned in)," on what they really want to see the nation do. Topping their list was to end poverty, followed closely by the reconstruction of community. Abortion and gay marriage were not their primary goals.
They sound like liberals to me. Those are primary goals of liberals.
A Democratic woman participant said that JFK "ran with the nuns" and that the "Catholic Church without the nuns was the Republican Party." A woman identified as a conservative spokesperson said that abortion and gay marriage are money issues; they bring donations to pols.
We need to bring the women to the forefront.
