I never went to see it at the theatre, and I'm not going to see the film.

That was the case before I even knew they were making a film.

Btw, the greatest musical of all time was The Blues Brothers.

@izzythepush,
I remember when Eric was about 8 or 9 and we thought we really should drag him out to the legit theater and other venues (you know, well rounded) One of my friends from work could not stop raving about "Cats"...... bought tickets and we headed to the Kennedy Center in D.C. for this exquisite event. I remember seeing really old women wearing those 'hats' the rhinstone encrusted head things that 'flappers' wore in the 20's....I remember wondering how could these women still be alive in 1980????

Well we climbed up to the nosebleed section, and the whole thing was stultifying....There was one song that was worth hearing.....I suppose....I'm just grateful I didn't stunt my child's interest in music...........he eventually forgave us.

@izzythepush,
I do love the Blues Brothers, especially the car chase thru the Mall.

Never read the T.S. Elliot ... PracticalCats, never saw the Broadway musical, never had an interest in watching a bunch of weirdo, often overpaid 'actors' prancing around in cat outfits for schmucks shelling out upwards of a hundred dollars per show.

Don't intend to see the movie either.
(in case there was any doubt)

@farmerman,
He sounds too much like a song by The Cure.

I love the trailer but I don't think that I would want to see it in theaters.

I am someone who would gladly pay good money to see The Lovecraftian Nightmare Musical....

... as long as there are no f***ing cats (unless the cats get hunted and killed in a dark watery cave by squid creatures, 'cause that would be cool.)

@maxdancona,
Men who go on to commit violence against women usually start off by being violent towards cats.

@izzythepush,
You are going to get outraged about fictional singing cats?

I guess now it's Izzy savior of women.... and defender of anthropomorphic cats..

@maxdancona,
I'm just pointing out a fact, a fact you would be advised to take on board if you want to stay out of trouble.

I am choosing to not respond to Izzy's provocation any more on this thread. (That's 1 time).

Rolling Eyes That's fair. But making it an obvious post? That in itself is a response. Rolling Eyes

Some of the early reactions for the film are coming in.

From Broadway World critic Alan Henry:
"The CATS movie is the strangest, most bewildering, queerest, magical, and spectacular cinematic experience I have ever had. I am not sure what just happened but I know that it was something worth experiencing."
https://twitter.com/AlanHenry/status/1206777426346496000?s=19

From Variety's Caroline Framke:
"It brings me no pleasure to report that CATS is way too horny for its own good"
https://twitter.com/carolineframke/status/1206778533844000768?s=19

This is going to be an odd film.
