A local radio station is holding a contest for the next morning talk show host. No experience needed. In fact they want people without experience. So I figure, what the hell, I can do that... I don't have any radio experience.
They are holding off-air auditions Saturday the 11th and I am thinking I am going to have to have 3 minutes of material to keep the judges entertained. I have no problem talking to people but have never done any "radio stuff" so was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on whatto talk about.
Remember it is a morning show so I am thinking it will have to be pretty tame and be able to entertain a large variety of people.
Any specific genre? Sports, news, varied?
You could read through some of the 'General News' or 'Philo/Debate' threads and pull together both sides of a particular issue and hit them with three minutes of a two-sided thorny issue.
Or, are you thinking of something apolitical?
do you listen to this station now?
Can you get an idea of what they use/and are comfortable with now?
Put a spin on what they are already playing on the air?
hehehe
is it run by a bunch of republicans?

But of course....
But the morning show isn't very political. It is more general... they have questions, people call up and respond. Pretty boring stuff.
Remember to find out what they pay before you burn the bridges.
Tee Hee. I just imagined ME going to audition for something like this and what I would do ... Yikes. My spiel would be to "tell it like it is" or "shoot from the hip". I think I'd make a great radio psychiatrist. I'd tell people to **** or get off the pot. But then again I'd probably have to leave town rather sharpish because I would piss off a lot of people.
Oh I like your take Heeven... JP the Pissed off Shrink!
Mind if I borrow that one?
Today's the 12th.
<------- is wondering how JP's audition went!
Yes, do tell JP! I'm sure you were wonderful!
It ended up not happening. My brother who lives in Blomington IL and his wife are havng a kid (due late August) and they decided that the 11th was a good time for a mini-family reunion. So I missed out on the audition

Ohhhh!
jp, I am really sorry that you missed the audition.
::sigh:: Wanna share a cup of really dark coffee and a hug?
I could really use a coffee right about now... if I blink I might fall asleep.
I believe this was your favorite:
ps... try mixing half a pound of Italian roast with half a pound of espresso roast. It is super smooth but still has a very rich bold flavor.
hello every body im a new grad as a legal assis. and a change of careers that isnt going very well any ideas?
So the first on air contestant went this morning. She was terrible. No coherent topic. Lots of rambling. Annoying voice. No direction for the audience what so ever. She was all over the board. One guy actually called up and told her she should just quit right then and there. It was pretty funny.
I kept thinking that if thiis is the quality of people they picked I really missed a good opportunity.
See? You could have blown them out of the water!
I couldn't blab that long if they paid me $150K.
I'm not sure if I believe that, C.I. After all... you haven't achieved "Guru in Training" staus for nothing
jp, Numbers are misleading. Trust me on this one! LOL
