Forgot to reply to motion sickness -- if she's sick already, putting her in the car is a bad idea. But if she's healthy, she doesn't seem to get motion sickness. Thankfully!!
Right now I'm more towards getting a CD player and not a DVD -- partly money considerations, partly that somehow I like the idea of her listening while looking out the window and seeing what there is to see better than the idea of her looking at a box on her lap, oblivious. I dunno, might change my mind yet, especially in terms of it would only be a small percentage of the whole trip.
Soz, You might want some diversion for that trip cross Illinois. It's mind-numbingly boring.
