Love that song, Clary.

You're brave, I think, but it'll be nice to have the sons around. I bought the perfect dress for travel in Morocco, pale gray, totally modest, and made out of some kind of miracle fabric for hot weather. Never used it and when I put it on to wear it here, I look like a nun. Very Happy

Fed up with the muted delights of Devon, and wishing to live up to my desire to do something challenging every year, I have attached myself as third wheel to two of my sons, hoping to explore Syria in August/September. I have found out that a return flight to Istanbul followed by the Toros train to Aleppo is the best, cheapest and most scenic start - but has anyone got any advice or recommendations
, general or particular?
It's going to be stinking hot Cool

Want to go to Syria? Enlist in the United States Air Force. You won't have to wait long at all.

gunga, Clary is going to Syria with her sons; not to wear a uniform to become a target for the insurgents.

Perfect!
I think the likelihood of my being picked for the USAF is slightly less than Geo W saying he's sorry, he made a complete balls up about that Eye-Rack War.
I now have a girl friend of my age to travel with. Funny quartet, 2 young men and 2 aging ladies!! Laughing

Quote, "I now have a girl friend of my age to travel with. Funny quartet, 2 young men and 2 aging ladies!!" When some people gaze at the four of you, people are gonna have the 'wrong' idea, but you can't blame it all on 'them.' LOL

"Shock" in Syria is not good; especially if it goes against their "religion."

Ha! But they still want to speak it ... we have more Arabs applying than ever before, in our school of English.

Love your new signature, Clary. That's the kind of thing respectable mothers tell their kids.

Oh, that's very good, thanks Osso. My youngest son found the Maghreb Bookshop in London yesterday and had long talks with the owner, coming out with useful books and addresses. The consensus is that they are very hospitable and friendly. Having said that, a bomb plot was foiled in Damascus a couple of days ago. But that could happen anywhere these days.
