Westlaw legal access is a fantastic thing!

Bush giving his SS speech in NY on the 24th of this month:

Quote:
Now, a personal savings account would be a part of a SocialSecurity retirement system. It would be a part of what you would have to retire when you reach retirement age. As you -- as I mentioned to you earlier, we're going to redesign the current system. If you've retired, you don't have anything to worry about -- third time I've said that. (Laughter.) I'll probably say it three more times. See,in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda. (Applause.)

I've heard that for sport, he kills homeless people, and then eats their hearts. The White House denies this, of course. Liars!

Laughing

Dollars to doughnuts he meant "catapult" in the sense that the rest of the English speaking world might say "vault" or "hurdle." He is a gifted speaker, our Prez.

I think "propaganda" was the wording in question, not "catapult." Rolling Eyes

I think the intended meaning was ....
you have to repeat the truth over and over to get past the propoganda from the other side.

But the phrasing was clumsy and I would never say that truth has to vault past propoganda. Truth will undermine propoganda but it is propoganda that tries to catapault past the truth.

I agree that's what he meant ... and yes, the phrasing was clumsy; typical Bush-speak.

He kills them by killing the social programs that keep them from dying in the streets. So this is actually a true statement.

Which programs has he killed that has caused homeless people to die in the streets?

.....but you must admit that it certainly comes down to something when the ordinary citizens have to rearrange their Presidents speeches, and express their own interpretations of what they think he meant, but cannot say for certain that they are correct.
Thank god he hasnt had to deal with anything major during his "reign", who knows where that would have led his Country?
