I am listening to a block of Primus right now on the local rock station, and I was just thinking, "HOLY ****, WHO IS BETTER THAN LES CLAYPOOL?! THIS GUY IS F*CKING INCREDIBLE!!! OH MY GOD, I'M LOVING THIS ****!!!"

Les Claypool is the best rock bass player of all time. Anyone disagree?

I work at a horrible finance company in the graphics department. I have my headphones on today. I'm pretending I'm sitting in a place that doesn't so closely resemble hell.

Smorgs, compared to Les, all other bass players lick ass! I can't believe you don't see that! What, do you need me to come over there and spank that ass for you?

I have always enjoyed the work of Jack Bruce and John Entwhistle . . .

I had a feeling John Entwhistle would come into this discussion at some point. I agree, he is also amazing. Sometimes his fingers look like a spider jumping around on the fretboard...yeah, he's also a badass.

As a by-product mainly of 60's and 70's "classic" rock, I'm not familiar with Les Claypool but judging by the comments here, it sounds as if he would be worth checking out. I would cast my vote for Paul McCartney (particular his playing on "Sgt. Pepper"). Secondary votes would go to John Entwistle, John Paul Jones, Brian Wilson, Jack Bruce and Bill Wyman.

John McVie...Fleetwood Mac
Verdine White....one of the hardest working bass players I've ever seen....you might know him and his brother Maurice as Earth, Wind, and Fire.
