A head like yours, Francis? Hmmmm. I realize that must be a joke, but I fail to get the punch line. <smile> Are you talking titular head or literal head? I guess that I had better confess. When John Oak gave me those unfinished letters, I put Dunkirk then deleted it. Embarrassed

Well, off to get another map. Good grief!

Well, Francis and John, either my glasses need changing or it's breakfast time, as I couldn't find one place that begins with Dun####.

Must eat now, so I'll be back later and try again.

Good morning, everyone.

I think I have it, but I'm more interested in the researching process (or, finding my way around the internet).

Try this Letty: We know that the place starts with the letters D-U-N and is in Somerset county. If you google "place names England" you will find all kinds of sites that give alphabetical lists of places -- just find all the D-U-N's in Somerset.

Now we also know that it's across the river from Cardiff, so use o&k's map link to zoom in. Francis was talking about his "head", so chances are that a nearby place has the word "head" in it.

Then if you think you have found a place, you can google "[place] Civil War" or other clues that have been dropped, and confirm that it is the right place.

(And just because I found it this time, doesn't mean that next time I won't get all tangled up in the web -- so aptly named.)

Great map site, by the way, o&k! Thanks.

Fascinating map, John, but still no luck. I have tried at least a dozen times. I know that Francis' head is a clue, but once again, it goes over Letty's head. Hmmmm. tete-Tate? I will keep trying, however.

Thanks o&k -- I've been playing this game for months and it's only recently that I've started to figure things out.

I'd like to amend my advice above a little bit.

Once you have a list of the D-U-N's in Somerset, go to o&k's map. There is a box on the upper left side where you can type in each name that you've come up with, one at a time. Once you enter a name and press "go", the map will regenerate on that name. Then you check if it is across the river from Cardiff, if there's a place nearby called Minehead, etc. If not, try the next name on your list.

Am I making sense, Letty?

Of course, Tico. You always make sense, Canuck. It's just that I am a bit dense this A.M. It more than likely has to do with my dial up as well.

I will keep trying, however, but you really ought to take the turn. I simply like to learn. Winning is not the only object of this game.

Well, at least I found out that Minehead is a popular beach in Somerset, England, Francis. A wonderful place to play and be jocular or jocund. <smile>

Still can't find that darn Dun, however.
