I am learning more about the religious and political dynamics in Iraq, but I wonder if what is going on now is leading up toward a breed of civil or religious war.
The news this morning stated that many of the car and suicide bombings are enacted by Sunni's on Shi'ites.
Is there any indication that this may be the direction Iraq is heading, rather than an outright objection to the American occupancy?
Many of the bombings seem random, as Brandon9000 has pointed out, but is there any rhyme or reason to them, ie: directed mainly at opposing religious factions?
Hi Candid
It's a pity the planners of the invasion didn't spend as much time as you in learning about the social dynamics of they were invading....

it seems to me that iraq is already in the first steps of civil war.
not glad or happy about it, but that's how it looks to me. iraq is a country cobbled together by external determination. the natural, i.e. cultural, tribal and religious differences of the different regions are difficult to overcome.

Or the Brits that carved up the area post-WWII...
