Plenty of time for the alternative.

Oh, and the chance to make others as confused and unknowing as I am....

wus = Whatever you represent but in pain, fearfully attack. To prove yourself, RATHER than to help others.

Oh sorry ... the person who uses the word, not the one it's used on! Laughing And only if it's actually meant as a put-down.

(I still get object and subject mixed up way too often!)

I agree, Code Borg. Good thing I used it in jest. Cool

By the way, you answered the thread's question, "What's your reason to live?" with "To win." That would be Nietzschean if you mean "To win over one's self", over one's baser dispositions, i.e., to become a self-transcendent ubermensch... or if you were a woman, an uberwench.

Just kidding ladies.

I guess there are three justifications for life: love, aesthetic experience and Life itself.

Oh, a forth: linguini with olive oil and garlic (aglio y olio) and chianti.

I don't know about man generally--I know too many masochists. But it certainly applies to me, in the sense, I hope, of epicurian rather than hedonist. But I wouldn't swear by it.

By the way, speaking of masochists.
The masochists drops to the floor and cries out to the sadist: "Hurt me."
After some thought the sadist responds with: "No."
After some writhing with frustration, the masochist says: "Thank you."

The moral: the masochist always wins.

Well if we're answering this question seriously:

I once read that it could be argued that the purpose of the human race is to carry fresh water uphill, and/or distribute it around the earth.

Kind of like clouds do.

Think about it. We pump water uphill. Dam it and distribute it around to various farms, towns, industries.

Then it trickles around further and generally spreads further from wherever we are.

What mammal spreads more fresh water around than us?

No wonder my head feels like its in the clouds too often.
