That has no bearing on the present conversation McT.

Do you think that if the insurgency ended tomorrow, the US was able to finish the infrastructure rebuilding, the Iraqi government was allowed to rule as outlined by their constitution and the oil was allowed to go to the world market that the US would not leave?

You don't? You're in a minority, I fear.

icant, There's too much stuff out in web-land that shows Bush went AWOL. Wonder why he could never really defend that charge? Because he can't. You call it "mythology," because you can't defend it either.

I call it mythology because the support for this allegation is at best hearsay, and at worst people alleging what they want to believe.

I want to believe the accuser carries the burden of proving the truth of his accusation, and the accused does not carry the burdon of proving the falsity of his accusers' accusation.

I want to believe this, because it is after all the law of our land.

I took out my notebook and copied that last post down. My God- How incisive- how deep- how derivative--

A Mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I must really memorize that.

Just make sure you get the original source for that though. It wasn't Setanta. I first heard it on television commercials for the United Negro College Fund. Not sure if its origins go further back.

Ican711- I have noted the charge made many times. It is like the charge that Bill Clinton is a rapist. Some people claim that Clinton raped Juanita Broadderick, but no one has been able to prove it. Heresay is rife concering that charge.

There is no evidence that George W. Bush was AWOL. When I say evidence, I mean the kind of testimony that would stand up in court and be judged to be true beyond a reasonable doubt.

McGentrix- Of course, you are correct, but the fact that Sentana posts such a cliche as if it were an announcement from Sinai, is revealing. When you read Setanta and Blotham, it is as if the great intellects of the world are deigning to give the poor peasants their exclusive wisdom. The truth is that they are filled with left wing Cliches and rarely present evidence to buttress their remarks. And as for Setanta's post---

I don't think we would leave, why would we have permanent bases if we were going to just up and leave?
...

The permanent bases are for the permanent military... the Iraq military.

The article you referenced alleges that there are 14 bases currently being built, and that these 14 will eventually be consolidated into 4 permanent "metabases."

Oh, heck, I might as well show how brilliant I am also-

Hell is paved with good intentions--Samuel Johnson.

I have read that aphorism at least forty times in the last twenty years.

Why Setanta and Blotham think they are distributing the wisdom of the ages with such cliches as - A mind is a terrible thing to waste-- shows, as far as I am concerned--an arrogance that holds them "above the filthy masses"
The word is supercilous.

One assumes that you are addressing Italmassamortgato, who seems not to have known that definition of tenor. Your assertion, is, however, without foundation.
