Egyptian police detain 200 after Cairo attacks

CAIRO (AFX) - More than 200 people have been arrested or brought in for questioning by Egyptian security services following attacks in Cairo tourist areas that left three Islamic militants dead, police said.

'Around 200 people were arrested, some briefly, during police operations in the slums of Ezbet al-Gabalawi, Al-Amar and Ezbet Rushdi, where the families of the perpetrators and people implicated in the three attacks...live,' said one police source.

On Saturday, a militant blew himself up as he jumped off a bridge outside the Egyptain Museum, wounding an Israeli couple, an Italian woman and a Swedish man.

Less than an hour later the man's sister and his fiancee died in an abortive attack on a tourist bus elsewhere in the capital.
