Wow I just read this and I hope they're ok! I can't imagine why someone would do something like that! Don't people have any respect for beauty anymore? Whether or not they liked the particular painting, the fact that it was created by human hands is enough reason to revere it. Just my humble opinion. :-\

So, I guess they recovered it in 2006, and a couple months ago "The Scream" sold for $120 million.

Even though, actually, there were four such paintings. I'm waiting for the fifth version, crayon scribbled on the back of an envelope for a much more reasonable $40 million or so.
