You're All Going to Hell!

Now that I have your attention... Laughing

Questions I wrestle with:
How much evil can we participate in before we are sent to hell?

If a person leads a good and decent life, but has doubts on whether or god exists, is she going to hell?

If a person leads a life of cruelty and greed, and then at the last minute repents, is he going to heaven?

If the previous statement is true, doesn't it stand to reason that under this system it wouldn't matter how you led your life as long as you asked forgiveness in the end?

I would like to hear your thoughts on hell. Do you believe in it? If so, why? How does believing/not believing make you feel better about the world?

By the word Hell, do you mean the Anglicization of the Hebrew word sheol, or the mistranslations of either the Greek word hades or the Hebrew word gehenna?

"Hell" is any of the theistic interpretations that can be defined loosely as "a bad place to be for eternity."

I don't think morality even matters, if at the end we are able to ask forgiveness and get out of hell. Conversely, if we lead horrible lives and the possibility of going to heaven is no longer an option, at what point do we stop trying moral at all?

Since I have never met anyone who has never sinned, and indeed some believe that we are born full of sin, how can we be sure we are not going to hell?

That's why you're all going to hell.

i agree, i always claimed we're all going to hell. christians and other non-muslims will be sent to islamic hell, muslims, heathens and other non-christians will wind up in christian hell, us heathens will even have to be in multiple hells at once, unless there is only one multidenominational hell. but why should there be a monopoly of the sort? multiple gods around, multiple hells, most likely. will i get to choose which one? following from all of this: if we're all going to hell, who needs heaven? it's probably an empty, lonely place. i can't wait to go to hell. it was recommended to me many a time already.

Wherever did you get the idea that your soul is immortal?

I just remember a Far Side comic, where these guys are standing in line at the coffee maker in hell. There are flames all around and the devil has his whip in the corner. One of the guys tastes his coffee and says,

"Aw, the coffee's cold. Man, they thought of EVERYTHING!"

Cracks me up every time. Laughing

In Shakespeare's day, if you told a person to go to hell, he would go into his root cellar. Is that what you mean?

You know you're going to hell when hair grows on the palms of your hands. Wait a minute. . . that's something else. But never matter, there's no such thing as hell anyway.

Ha! Laughing It's not something I did, but the fact that I will inevitably violate some sacrament that may in turn cause my banishment to hell. The only problem is that I can't figure out which hell I'm going to.

Wait, what if I'm already in hell? Dang it! I knew the Mariners weren't just losers by chance!!! It's all part of some elaborate plan to get my hopes and then dash them upon the ground. What is the maniacal laughing I hear from under the floorboards?

Oh what a relief! So you haven't done it YET?

Well, wait for me and a few others here to catch up
and we'll bring a few pitchforks to join you.

When it comes to doing evil, you know it's gonna be GOOD! :-)

PS - Heaven or hell, torture or bliss, this world we're in right now
can be experienced either way, here in The Present.
You don't have to die to get there . . . you just have to choose.

Is there beer in a root cellar? If hell is full of beer, LET THE SINNING BEGIN!

Oh damn, I'll bet it would be sweatshop-American-domestic-macroblow-the King of All Suck-beer. I just can't win. Crying or Very sad
