Help,
I have a question related to JohnnyDelight's recent post: I am in college and have been working during the school year, I also agreed to stay on for the summer but found a job that will gve me more experience. I am in the middle of my exams and so I don't have the time to go in and quit and was wondering if it is okay to quit over the phone or email. My work contract specified me as "at will" so I guess I don't need to give two weeks notice or anything like that.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I admire you for even wondering about this, it shows that you are a professional and progressive thinking person.
I don't think it's EVER okay to quit a job on the phone, via e'mail, or any other mode vis-a-vis face to face.
If you think not showing up for your job is NOT going to impact your peers, then you didn't need to be there to begin with.
There's an old saying, "Don't burn your bridges behind you" that are self-explanatory.
Don't lose your way, do it right the first time!
Good luck!
