Not that two men can't, I am only speaking in general terms. But being a responsible caregiver is not contingent upon one's gender, orientation, skin color, religion or any other trivial matter.

Everything . . . do you contend that you can demonstrate that such relationships are abnormal?

Two people. Love each other. And as often as not, want to stay together for the rest of their life. And in this case, are ready to care for and raise a child in a safe and loving home.

Sounds like that would cover most bases re: responsible foster parenthood.

Are you saying that hetrosexual homes are just as normal as homosexual homes?

Of course homosexual homes are as normal as heterosexual homes. Just two people who love each other living together, and willing to parent a child.

What is normal about homosexual realationships?

Everything that is normal about a heterosexual relationship. Since everyone is unique when it comes to sexuality, there is no normal or abnormal. The only possible abnormalty one might find is to find two people whose sexuality was identical.

I suggest that if you want to discuss this, we start a new thread. I don't know, there are so many forums here, is there one where poeple can discuss sexuality in a completely frank manner?

Just out of curiosity, would any of you agree that an optimal family would include a male father and female mother?

Why . . . what makes that "optimal?"

Count me out, McG. I've seen no proof in my life that a male father + female mother do better than two male or two female parents.

In my opinion the optimal family would be composed of people who love you no matter who those people are.

There are many female mother/male father families that absolutely suck.

Main Entry: op·ti·mal
Pronunciation: 'äp-t&-m&l
Function: adjective
: most desirable or satisfactory

It's an easy question.

The options are:

No parents
a single female mother
a single male father
a female mother & male father (married)
a female mother & male father (divorced)
2 female parents
2 male parents
a village

So, which would be the optimal group to raise a child?

With only that information, impossible to say.

The important things -- the things that would help me decide which group would be optimal -- are not contained in your formulation.

You're raining all over his parade, Soz . . . McG wants to believe that there is a simple answer to every question, and that he knows what it is.

How about this then... the female is June Cleaver and the male Ward Cleaver.

Already answered that question. So did Boomer.

I think a female mother & male father, 2 female parents and 2 male parents would all be equally "optimal", as long as they loved each other, lived in harmony with each other, provided a loving environment to the child and were able to materially provide for it. I also think they would be equally likely to do so.

Did you know June Cleaver might need gynecological surgery?

The other day, she said to her husband: "Ward, i'm worried about the beaver."
