Heres what I dont understand.
You on the left are raising hell because DeLay said judges would have "'to answer for their behavior".

Now,how many of you have told your kids or employees the same thing when they screwed up?
Are you threatening them with death?
Thats what you are saying DeLay did.

He was speaking his OPINION,and that is not illegal. He didnt surrender his rights when he was elected.
If he thinks the judges screwed up,he has the right to say so.

You may not like what he says, but you cannot deny him the right to speak his mind.
Now,since he didnt threaten to kill anyone,he is not responsible if you chose to take it that way.

Remember, next time you screw up at work, you will "have to answer" to your boss for your actions.

Nope MM poor analogy. DeLay threatened the judiciary. Biiiiiiig difference.

The judiciary are not his children. Nor does he employ them.

He didn't criticise in anything approaching moderate terms. He threatened them and in doing so tried to cut a leg off the three-legged stool. Can't put sugar in this and call it sweet. He can say what he likes, of course, provided he wears what comes back at him.

Number one,they ARE his employees,and mine,and yous.
How exactly did he threaten them?
What were his exact words? Did he threaten to kill any of them?

Not employees.
His comments have been reported widely. He has traduced their independence.
I never claimed that he said to kill them.

No matter. The point is that the judges are not beholden to the legislature or the executive. Threats by the legislature or the executive against the independence of the judiciary are threats against democracy.

None of that matters.

My thread is about about Tom DeLay transparently and insincerely backpeddling. Thats all, and that's what he's doing. You can try to convert to a defensible issue all you like. Have fun.
