The gratitude
<rolls over in sleep>
... is for saying the
<snarks a bit>
truth.
G'night.
Very nice of you, CodeBorg!
Just one question, though. What is "sveiks"?
It's Latvian for "hello!" ...
I think you and Merry Andrew are the only people I've met online
who have any experience with Latvians.
A post from
way, way back . . .

So your father is Latvian! ... Aha, now I see where you're coming from! The old problem of trying to understand one's parent/s! Oh I know that one well!!!!
But just to balance this out a little, let me tell you of my first ever true love ... A Latvian/artist person ... The relationship lasted 6 years & had a huge impact on me ...
How's this for a Latvian?: Romantic, deep thinker, lover of animals, reader of poetry to the beloved (me!
), constant giver of gifts, writer of beautiful, thoughtful letters, cooker of fantastic meals for the beloved & friends, & enthusiastic celebrator of "Olga's Day", during which one felt wonderfully priveleged & loved! .... I could go on, but you get my point! Latvians come in all shapes, sizes & varieties ... Just like anyone from any other culture!
It just kinda stuck with me, but I wasn't sure if you'd recognize "sveiks".
Did you ever see him again? Do people still celebrate Olga's Day?
Perhaps we should start a thread . . .
ohhhhhhhhh
I remember that Olga's Day post.
Making me smile again now.
Always thought and smile-inducing, that CodeBorg is.
Well, damn, I was just getting used to having you back around.....
Wot's "props"?
And you better be posting, that's all I have to say.

Oh, that was a long way back, indeed, CodeBorg! What a memory you have!
And hey, sveiks to you, too!
Did I ever see him again? No. We went our separate ways for years & years & years... Then, a couple of years ago, I found myself wondering what had happened to him & after a number of abortive attempts to make contact, finally tracked P down. (Funny thing, he'd had dreams of trying to talk to me a few times, recently....
) Anyway, a lot of things had happened - other loves, parenthood & migration to a faraway part of Oz (from Melbourne) ... but there he was, living in some stunning location, absolutely zilch creature comforts & amenities/maximum exposure to the beauty of nature. I had to smile. Some things remain constants.
Olga's Day celebrations? Nah. They ended when that relationship with P ended. Very fond memories, they remain.
I'm grateful you're back. I hope life's been kind to you. Slainté.
@CodeBorg,
<blink>
It really
is you! I'd know that little green critter anywhere!
Sveiks, CodeBorg!
What an absolute pleasure it is so see you again after so long.
This has made my day!
So ... where have you been?
What have you been up to?
Tell us
everything!
And .... you're not going to vanish in a hurry again, are you?
W00t! Little green d00d!!
@CodeBorg,
sooo missed you, little green CBorg
CodeBorg?
You haven't vanished already, have you?
