I have taken a shine to a variety of Transitional Yiddish where (using Weinreich's protovowel designations) E2 and E3 = /aj/ but A2 = /o/, E5 = /e/, and U1, U2, and U3 = /u/. What pronunciations should I use for all of the Yiddish diaphonemes (please use Weinreich's protovowel designations) If I wanted to approximate this using a mix of Eastern Yiddish varieties? I'm considering just using the standard Yiddish pronunciation. I've also heard that people don't tend to mix varieties. Any suggestions or advice?
