Father to give up his rights?

Unless you have someone willing to step up and adopt your son (like a husband), chances are that the state will not let your son's father off of the hook for child support -- and that's what would happen if his rights were terminated.

If he is a bad father - abusive, negligent, otherwise dangerous - there are ways to prevent him from being involved in the child's life without his rights being terminated.
