Disappointed, but not at all surprised.
Nah, amused in an erie kind of way. Some timing, you'ld almost think they were making a point.
Too bad the moron did not err on the side of life when he invaded Iraq.
Your link is extremely vague, and I'm wondering if you're suggesting that the facility, staff and governor of Vermont just made this up for some unfathomable reason? Because that's what it seems like.
Yeah i saw this and thought about posting it on the Schiavo post but thought it too off topic.
truly disgusting.
ok let's sort this out to be fair and balanced, what has been proposed as a major cut is medicaid waiver funding and not VA rehab funding. bottom line is that yes indeed it is a serious cut but it is not trargeted at Vets. the most prominent target of this cut is persons with develomental disabilities, the medicaid waiver program was a creation of R Reagan as a cost saving measure to provide medical funding outside of a hospital setting (hence the word "waiver") this program is generally a state/fed equally shared cost 50/50 and the Bush budget seems to be attemptiing to reduce the fed share shifting the cost more to the states which are having their own budget difficulties. the medicaid/medicare $ crisis is far more immediate and costly than any Social security shortfall.
so save Terri at any cost while removing aid for people with developmental diasabilities. Equally disgusting and enforces the "Terri Schiavo as political pandering" scenario just as well.
But don't the 'let Terri die' crowd base their objections to Federal interference on a principle of states rights? So you want the states to have all the rights but you want the Federal government to pay for it?
Who's being disingenuous here?
Let the Federal government allow me to keep my money, and I don't mean 300.00 while Ken Lay gets 3 billion, and they don't have to pay a goddam thing. Let them be a regulartory outfit.
