Oh, yeah! I forgot about Mr. Rogers! I remember when he retired how surprised I was at his vast following.

C-SPAN's Brian Lamb.

If we're talking "most beloved person on TV of all time", I would offer the following list (not necessarily in order):
1. Johnny Carson;
2. Walter Cronkite;
3. Captain Kangaroo;
4. Mr. Rogers; and
5. Lucille Ball.
One of my personal favorites is Samantha Stevens. She was caught between two worlds and she did it with a great sense of humor and a great sense of style.
Now for someone in this century, Lorelai Gilmore. She's smart, beautiful, a great mom and can spout out pop culture trivia like no other.
I think The Contender Season 1 has the best reality casts ever.
A couple I remember from my childhood...
Red Skelton (loved him to pieces!) and Art Linkletter
Captain Kangaroo was a double theeat. He was also loved as Clarabell. ( yeah Howdy Doody made me think of it. :wink: )
I think Brandy Rusher and Keenyah Hill are the most hated people in all TV shows.
Who are these people, of which you speak, Burnout?

Lately I've been seeing a two DVD set of Skelton shows for $5 at Wallmart. Heads and shoulders above any of today's television fare.
Who was Crazy Guggenheim?
I may have mentioned this already but I used to love the Burns and Allen show only because my parents were not together in tha late 50's/early 60's and George Burns reminded me of my father.
Crazy guggenhiem was a character on Jackie Gleason's variety show. He was a drunk to JGs bartender. at the end of the skit, he would return to natural and sing in a beautiful operetic voice. I forget his name. I believe it was Frank something. You might say he was the predecessor to Jim Nabors/Gomer Pyle.
Wasn't it Frankie Fontaine?
