Back to the topic of the economy. I thought the recovery had started?
http://www.gallup.com/poll/146453/gallup-finds-unemployment-hitting-february.aspx
"There is essentially no difference between the unemployment rate now and the one at this time a year ago; January's rate, in contrast, showed a 1.1-percentage-point year-over-year improvement. This suggests that the real U.S. jobs situation worsened in February. That is, jobs are relatively less available now than in January.

In the broader underemployment picture, the situation is much the same. January's year-over-year improvement of 1.0 points became -0.2 points in February. In turn, this suggests job market conditions in terms of underemployment also worsened during February."

@okie,
okie, We all know you have more wisdom about our economy than the experts that say different. Your one issue problem about our economy, unemployment, is not the total picture.

It only proves that your knowledge about economics is shallow.

@okie,
Why should I waste any of the time I am not at work, digging into your salacious commentary, bugging me for days about my divorce? I try not to expect people to be able to do what I do and one of those things is remember what I wrote. You feign innocence constantly or else your memory is so poor that you -- as I have suggested previously -- have a diagram on the inside of your closet door, showing you how to dress.

My posts are not bizarre but rather your reading comprehension is not on the adult (college) level, a supposition put forth by others here. You also lack social skills.

Frankly, had anyone conducted the sort of questioning on my divorce in person that you did on line, he would rightfully be labeled scum.

He won't catch on that he misspelled the word and used its homonym.

@okie,
I guess it shows that tax cuts for the rich still don't work to create employment.

A Bit Of Bank Voyeurism...
The Supreme Court has just decided to not hear a case involving a media outlet vs a bankers' trade group. A lower court had agreed with Bloomberg Financial that the Federal Reserve had to reveal which banks had borrowed how much from the Fed when the banking crisis hit in 2008. The Fed and the Obama administration did not participate in pushing for a review by the Supreme Court.
This does not involve the previously disclosed "bank bailout" loans. At issue are loans made by the Fed at its Discount Window. Banks are required to maintain cash reserves of a certain % of its total deposits. This must be done on a daily basis. Usually a bank could get an overnight loan from another bank but in late 2008 banks were so skittish about the conditions at their own banks to say nothing of other banks that they stopped lending to each other - even for a day. The Fed's Discount Window has long been the lender of last resort.
Usually the borrowers and amounts involved are made public after a couple of years but the 2008 information has never been made public supposedly out of fear of getting people skittish about how close the banking industry (and their own banks) came to "freezing up" back then. I, a reluctant supporter of the "bailouts" believe we came pretty damn close.
The Fed has 5 days to disclose.

@realjohnboy,
Didn't hear about that problem, but read some time ago that most of the TARP money has been paid back.

I will be waiting for quotes to support your accusations here, pom. I won't be holding my breath though.

Three Senators- John Kerry D-MA), Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) and Mark Warner (D-VA) have proposed the creation of an "Infrastructure Bank.'
BOON OR BOONDOGGLE?
Their argument is that there are hundreds of thousand of dams and bridges poised to fail and cities are discharging untreated waste into rivers.
Congress members hope that there will be no disasters before they get reelected, they claim.
The three Senators argue for $10Bn in seed money to identify projects on "revenue producing" projects like toll roads, tunnels and water system upgrades paid for by consumers.
A component of their plan is that the private sector (pension and private equity funds) would become involved - to the tune of 50% of the S600BN envisioned in the long term.

I doubt that this idea will fly. Most politicians will bet that there will not be an issue before the next election.

If we stop spending so much on our military, all those can be paid for.

@realjohnboy,
The infrastructure crumbles every few years. The newspapers make more of a fuss of the deaths and the destruction while both local and national politicians pass the buck.

Three cheers to Kerry, Hutchison and Warner for saying that the buck needs to stop. Whether it will or not is probably a will-o'-the-wisp.

@okie,
Why don't you apologize to us about your claim there were WMD in Iraq okie?
Or you could provide support for you claim? But I won't be holding my breath.
Again, you hold yourself to a very low standard when it comes to evidence okie. It gets a little tiring because so many of you that demand personal responsibility don't think it applies to yourself. If you really believed in personal responsibility okie, you would hold yourself to a higher standard than you hold anyone else. So.. what is YOUR personal standard for evidence? And why do you demand a higher standard for others?

@parados,
People like okie are totally confused and inconsistent; they don't realize how often they contradict themselves for the world to observe their own lies. It's mostly psycho babble that has no credibility in the real world, but they continue with it anywhos. It must be a sickness associated with being a FOX News conservative.

There is anecdotal evidence to support okies claim, but somehow I dont think you accept that.
I personally saw Iraqi artillery shells that were filled with chemical weapons.
Granted, most of it was useless, but we didnt know that at the time.
It was only AFTER they were inspected that it was discovered that they were useless.

@mysteryman,
Anecdotal evidence is not justification to attack a sovereign country.
