@maporsche,
maporsche, Do you understand logic at all? What in my first statement doesn't address the user's use of the word decent?

In ci's little world... decent people lie, cheat and steal all in the name of the Democrat party.

Most liberals exhibit a narcissistic pathology marked by grandiosity, envy, a
lack of empathy, illusions of personal perfection, and a sense of entitlement.

That's my summer home, c.i. But times are tough so I am putting it on the market.
It is owned by Patricia Kluge, the now ex-wife of John Kluge. He is an octogenarian billionaire. I can't recall how he got so rich. She, much younger, has a rather checkered past. Some might call her a bit of a gold digger. But you didn't hear that from me.
They are very generous people. UVA has been the benefactor of numerous large donations from them.
Several years ago, he bought up some of the large estates within view of Monticello (to the east and south). Hundreds upon hundreds of acres that could potentially be in danger of being turned into housing tracts. He then turned around and gifted them to UVA.
24,000 sq ft of space. Imagine that. In the building I am doing across the street, we have come up with a 550 sq ft unit.
Where did you hear about this offering? I knew that you are rich, but...

@realjohnboy,
rjb, We are not rich by any means. That was one of the estates selling in the US for $100 million, but I forgot where. That's not much when we consider the fact that some Japanese businessman paid $52 million for a van Gogh painting several decades ago when a $million really meant real money. LOL

There was an article in the NY Times yesterday about the U.S. deficit. "Many economists" believe that members of Congress, despite what they say, will be unable to make budget cuts significant enough to have an impact. We can argue about that, I guess.
The economists suggest that there will be tax increases. The most logical one is a national sales tax, in their view.
Rasmussen did a poll on this in the last few days:
26% favor a national sales tax. 65% oppose.
If the sales tax was adopted while the income tax was eliminated, 44% say yes, 36% no and 20% are undecided.
The break-down by party affiliation is interesting. I will leave that to someone else.

@realjohnboy,
I agree with the economists; there will be tax increases in our future, and for the middle class as well as for the poor.

We'll still get okie, ican, and several others advocate tax cuts for the wealthy.

As far as Bush 43 is concerned, things didn't really begin to cave until 2008 when Bush 43 failed miserably to convince the Democrat majorities, that took over the House and Senate in 2007, to fix the disaster brewing with Fanny and Freddie.

Amen to that, ican, and the seeds to this recession were planted alot longer ago than Georg Bush's tenure. The Democrats have been in charge of Congress most of the last 50 years.

@okie,
Bush was and is a decent man, and a good American. Was he a great president. No. But certainly not the worst. I think historians will have a few to pick from in that department, including Clinton, Obama, and Carter. And don't forget LBJ, he was another huge loser of a man. A racist, he lied us into Vietnam, and he was responsible for the Great Society, which has probably done more to destroy the inner cities and the black family and community than any other program.

THIS, is the Biggest Oxy-Moran, I've EVER seen! Keep lying to yourself, okay?

Most conservatives exhibit a narcissistic pathology marked by grandiosity, envy, a

See how that works? You just described YOUR circle of ?friends? Yeah, the Repugs who get re-elected, think that THEY are above the law, the rich should pay less, etc., but as soon as something happens in their world of LESS government, who do they call? The Federal Government! HYPOCRITES!

@teenyboone,
If there is anything more proof of a radical than Obama proposing a national security force every bit as big and powerful and well funded as the military, I doubt anyone could come up with it. Such a proposal is clearly in the spirit of most of the worst dictators of the last century, such as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and all of the rest of that ilk. If such is not an illustration of a twisted mindset, of a dictator wannabe and a very dangerous personality, I challenge someone to point it out. The man should be impeached, but if not, voted out the next chance that we have. In the meantime, sweep Congress out and get some people in there that care about fiscal responsibility and our rights as citizens, so that they can stonewall Obama on every radical idea he has.
