Thats because he promises them more money and stuff. They don't realize yet that in the long run it will run the country into the ground.

If only they would listen to geniuses such as yourself, eh Okie?

When are you going to realize that your ideas and plans for how things should be done have been discredited by the recent Bush administration and Republican Congress, and have been rejected by the nation?

I'd like to hear you say that out loud: that your ideas have been rejected by the voters. It would help you begin the process of admitting that it is you and your party who are responsible for your failures.

Wasn't this supposed to be an informative thread about the economy? Who let this boot-licking republican partisan douche bag in here? I thought the time for listening to complete idiots tell us how things are was over.

@Cycloptichorn,
He'll never admit that! It's like religion to him; admitting he is wrong is like giving up his soul.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out Obama and his philosophy and mindset. It comes down to one basic question. If you are a socialist, you love Obama. If you don't, you will vigorously oppose him. Pretty simple. Thats your choice, but at least be honest about what you are doing, you should have at least the honor of doing that. Do you?

Oh, sure.

If you're living in a black-and-white world, everything is pretty simple.

@old europe,
okie sees everything in black and white; and he's the ultimate guru on politics and economics. He sees things most people can't see, because he has a special gift to evaluate everything with great skill and aforethought. He can even tell us who is guilty of crimes, and who are innocent of any crime based on his interpretation of the events that unfolds before us. It's a skill that is inborn, and it cannot be learned by reading books or by going to school.

@realjohnboy,
re. LAYOFFS (similar in canada - not YET quite as bad)

old canadian joke from the dirty thirties -
canadian prime minister answering question about increased unemployment :
the P.M. : "people wanted more vacation - the increased unemployment will give them the vacation they have been looking for ! "
much applause .

the answer is attributed to canadian P.M. bennet - who also gave canadians the "bennet buggy" - and environmentally friendly vehicle .

As it is, Obama is a disaster, for one big reason, people know he is a socialist or Marxist at heart, and so why invest, why work, etc.?

Sure okie.. And can you find me any news stories on this mass refusal to work by people?

I see a lot of stories about people laid off but no stories about people quitting.

@parados,
Under most circumstances I would agree with you,but I cant at the moment.

Since Obama took office,he has pushed thru a 1 trillion $ stimulus package, and he has proposed an almost 3 trillion $ budget.
If he had not gotten the stimulus package thru,then you could blame the current recession on Bush.
But, once the stimulus plan passed, the budget and the economy became Obama's baby.
Anything that happens to the economy from then on is Obama's doing.
And since even Obama admits that the deficit will go UP under his plan, I gotta ask...Why arent the people that complained (rightfully so) about the Bush deficit now complaining about what Obama is going to do to the deficit?

you over complicate the situation...the recession/depression is caused by a lack of confidence in the economic system. To the extend that it continues because the lack of confidence continues Obama is fully responsible now. Lack of confidence in Bush no longer is causing this psychological problem to manifest its way through the economy, he is just another citizen now.

@hawkeye10,
Confidence is part of it, but it's more based on the huge numbers who are losing their jobs and homes. Job loss translates into less spending which makes up over 70% of our economy. With this insecurity for most workers, they are not spending as they used to before this crisis hit. That's where the confidence issue kicks in.
