I've drank so much goooooood redwine in Italy,
but somehow can't remember the brand (or anything else
for that matter)

The choices given by the experts here, should get
you speak fluently Kicky.

Laughing, CJ. "I've drank"..."redwine".."should get you speak fluently"?

LOL

Hahaha, yeah, that's the first sign. I swear, I had only
one glass Mr. Green

I am not drunk from red wine.

You, know, CJ. Drinking is an art. You have to know when to hold up, know when to fold up. Men get drunk; women get sleepy. Laughing

Fluid ruby, Satt? What a beautiful expression.

I never cared much for moonlit skies
I never wink back at fireflies
But now that the stars are in your eyes
I'm beginning to see the light
I never went in for afterglow
Or candlelight on the mistletoe
But now when you turn the lamp down low
I'm beginning to see the light
Used to ramble through the park
Shadowboxing in the dark
Then you came and caused a spark
That's a four-alarm fire now
I never made love by lantern-shine
I never saw rainbows in my wine
But now that your lips are burning mine
I'm beginning to see the light

I have a strong impression of red wine in the daylight of a summer..

(Letty, it's nice Ellington music.. "I'm beginning to see the light.")

Satt, anything that Ellington did was beautiful, just like The Child Inside.

He be the Duke!

I just bought myself a bottle of Moscato d'Asti, whatever that is...hmmm...kind of a bit too fruity for me...plus, I thought I was buying a red wine, but this is white and it's like a dessert wine. Whatever, it tastes pretty good. This weekend I'll have to do a hunt for some good wines.

yeah, I'll be sure to do that. This stuff is way too sweet for me. I should have bought more of that Sicilian wine I bought last weekend.

If you want red, non-italian wine try 'big house red'. It's got a funny label and it's yummy and cheap.

Bandol brought back fond memories, osso. I was there a couple of years ago. It's in southern France...Provence, on the seashore. We drove through the vineyards up to the famous cliffs nearby, then went into town and watched people playing petanque (French version of bocce) and ate pizza at a seaside cafe. Then rode on the two-story merry-go-round right there on the beach. So picturesque.

The wine was good, too.

When I was in Italy, there wasn't so much emphasis on wine names and brands. It was red table wine from the family that we got because we didn't eat out much. And, when we did, I don't remember the details because I wasn't ordering.

A neighbor of ours in Venice went to Bandol years ago and came back raving about it - which is why I recognized the name, mainly anyway; I think I've seen it written about as good wine, and I think there is a good cookbook written by the owner...

Hungarian wine is cheap and nasty - I drank gallons. I am told it was Hungary - after 4 days it could have been Khazakstan.

Italians have long made their own wine in their own cantinas, and when I first went there we primarily drank table wine brought out in pitchers at trattorias. But.. driving through Chianti made us interested in learning about the wine history..

Talk about deja vu. In the San Francisco Chronicle's Wine section that came out today, they talked about Sicilian wine. And, in the feature page article, a friend of mine was quoted as an expert source (though it was about pairing beer with cheese).

Anyway, the two Italian wines they recommended, both whites, were the 2003 Corvo Sicilia, and the 2003 Ecco Domani delle Venezie Pinot Grigio.
