Sorry, had to get to my next class.

Jesus didn't come to change the laws, he came to fulfil them. Notice how we don't make animal sacrifices any more. Which in turn does not put me under the law (jewish law), I am under Jesus now.

No need to refer to the bible. Look all around you.

Well, for one, I see the soldiers in Iraq being "sacrificed." I would admit it's a matter of "interpretation." Mine.

Do you a brick to fall on you before you understand?
How many people have died in the name of or because of religion.

How many were ordered to sacrifice themselves? You have confused two things, sacrifice because of what isA)ordered of you or B)intense devotion to something.

Semantics. They became in many instances sacrificial lambs because of their religion.
However, there were times when people became the sacrificial lambs i.e. the inquisition or scapegoat by the church during the black plague in Europe.

I was talking about self-sacrifice.

Semantics? I looked up this word and it said something about language. Is this what you meant?

You are correct they are ready to sacrifice people in the name of their religion. Basically they have replaced the goat with a human. That is religious progress is it not.

That's not what I meant. The church does not have the power to decide if you are going to sacrifice yourself. The goat was replaced by Jesus.

Thunder

Earlier in this thread...you said you would get back to me on an item I questioned.

You never did.

Now I brought up a passage that you said you would have to get back to me on.

Instead...you are arguing bullshyt.

Why not be a bit more ethical!

You asserted that because Jesus came...this stuff changed.

I have now cited a passage indicating that Jesus did not come to change any of that stuff. All of the old law...the material contained in Leviticus and Deuteronomy....are supposed to stand exactly as worded.

Let's discuss the passage where Jesus said he was not here to change any of the law.

Jesus did not change the law, he fulfilled it. Nothing about the old law was changed. He just made it so that we were not accountable for the law.

*Hypothetical Parable*If a judge tells me that I am not going to be held accountable according to the parameters of the law, then the law does not change.

There is a lot of misunderstandings going on here.
Frank, I agree with thunder when he says that jesus came to fullfill the law. He didn't change anything inside the law itself. He only add laws.

You could almost say he amended "his constitution."

Pray tell what law did he come to fulfill. Where is this law written? Note only the old testament existed at that time and Jesus was an adherent.

HE JUST MADE IT SO THAT WE WERE NOT ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE LAW!!!!

Jesus Christ, Thunder....don't you think that it a fairly significant change!

Do you see anywhere where Jesus said...or even intimated...that the law was no longer going to apply?????

Paul...the hijacker of what Christ taught....decided to change things and make the law not apply.

Jesus was steadfast that the laws apply.

C'mon, man. Stop being so afraid that you are willing to torture logic that way.

Dumb!

There is absolutely nothing to indicate that Jesus ever intended to change the law...nor to have the law not apply. There is plenty to suggest that Jesus intended the law TO APPLY.

There is evidence that Paul decided unilaterally...and in direct contradiction of the teachings of Jesus...that the law would not apply to non-Jews.

So stop with the revision.
