Those people that saw him had never seen the christian followers or jesus himself and that is why they use those accounts.
Antibuddah, ONCE AGAIN YOU TOOK SOMETHING OUT OF CONTEXT. stay up with the conversation. You said that if you saw god and he proved his power and showed you everything you still wouldn't believe in him 100% that is why i said you were ignorant. I don't care if you don't believe in what I do. I just think that if something like that happened you might reconsider your faith. Socratic wisdom derived from Socretes i assume. Yeah he influenced the entire world, but that doesn't make him god does it?
Frank, those who followed elvis that closely were somewhat crazy enough to believe he didn't die but yet they found his body and determined his death.
Imposter, it seems to me that all you have to say is that the bible is all fiction and that there is no truth. Although there are many historical artifacts that have been found that were first stated in the bible. So I guess my "fictional" book has some truth to it, but you wouldn't think so.

So people who have never seen Jesus correctly identified him post rising from the dead (a task people who lived with him for years were uncapable of doing) and then had their accounts thereof mysteriously collated anonymously within a book written by the followers of christ (whom they had never met) whilst simultaneously avoiding them entering any sort of official documentation and you don't find this the least bit suspicious?

Geez, that wouldn't even get past Judge Judy. (Yes, I do watch daytime tv).

Odd how frequently I seem to do that, and yet mysteriously only to christians... I must be specifically targetting them with my context seperating abilities.

Why do I bother speaking when people don't listen to me... oh yeah, that's right, I like the sound of my own voice.

Yes... and no.

Since you're probably not going to look it up I'll post the basics here. Socrates said, "The true wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing", or something roughly to that effect in ancient greek. Socratic wisdom is admitting the uncertainty of your own knowledge.

The Aztecs were particularly impressed.

That requires much more hardcore drugs than hemlock.

P.S. Moral of this post. Don't debate while sleep depping or you'll write more about Judge Judy than the actual topic of the debate.

What happened to the Aztec's? Jesus had a escense about him that people knew he was the sun of god. And mysteriously you still have no idea what I am talking about when I said that. And yeah I listen to you, but do you listen to yourself. You and Imposter never stop amazing me.

Many books of the bible were written many years after the supposed events. That in of itself is a "miracle." Observation is an oxymoron.

If I wanted bullshit answers like sunrises and births and puppy dogs and smiles on little girl's faces then there are entire stores filled with the fridge magnets of such "precious little miracles".

It's quite clear that when I asked for miracles I didn't mean, please leap in and take credit for the thousands of things that science has already explained, on behalf of your god.

O.K...I've kept my cool...THERE IS NO WAY EVOLUTION COULD HAVE CREATED US!!!! DNA studies have shown that no new information is ever gained, when mutations occur in a species, DNA information is lost...if anything, we are all un-evolving. There has never been a transitional fossil found...uhhhh...cause there are none!! We have found millions of fossils, and never one that has showed a link between species!! Everytime this is brought up, atheists either add more years to earth, or make something else up. They tried to use embryos to show that during developement, we trace the evolutionary path(Haekel's Drawings) that was proven wrong like 50 years ago, yet it is still commonly accepted as a fact. I'm sorry but everything (matter) being created by something not of the physical world (God) makes a little more sense than...uhhh, nothing triggered it, but somehow everything was created by absolutely nothing, even if there was matter before that, where did that matter come from? We all know that the universe has not existed for ever, where did that first matter come from. It boggles my mind how some people just believe something, and they don't even have an answer to where it all came from (atheists). I'm sorry, but you will never find the answer if you want to rely on science. To rely on science is not bad, but it cannot be used to explain everything. If one more atheist tells me that I am following blindly, I will f***ing flip!! That is the most hypocritical statement created by man! If you truly have an open mind (many of you claim to have) then you will realize that there are things that cannot be explained by science or your senses, and if you disregard them, you will never find the truth.

Religion should be declared illegal. Since it is a powerful drug that clouds men's mind an impairs judgment. Rolling Eyes

Quote, "...atheists hate free-thinking." It's better than lock-step thinking we observe from the religious fanatics that can't even see the contradictions in the bible. Atheists try to use logic and facts to arrive at conclusions, whereas religious people use the bible to support the bible which has so many contradictions, we often wonder how you manage to rationalize all of it.

Anti, sometimes you scare me ^^' I am glad to see you join the bloodbath. At first I was going to lock the thread but I've found a new guilty pleasure in watching these people squirm.

The downfall of theists is their obvious ignorance about anything that's not their religion.

Please give me one contradiction that cannot be explained by understanding of the bible as a whole.

2 + 2 = 4; however, statements in the bible must be understood as a whole. So, 2 + 2 = 10. Understand? That's what the bible says as a whole.

You know not of what you speak. Not an atheist but rather a skeptical agnostic.

Wow, you rant like a natural. I'm impressed and I'm not just saying that to be nice. I like you so much more now. (I'm not saying you should always rant like that, I'm just impressed that you can).

Do you have a source for that? 'cause I haven't heard about these studies, they certainly sound interesting.

Describe a transitional fossil. No, I'm serious. What would be a good example of such a thing? Please be as specific as possible.

It's been 5 billion for as long as I've been reading about it. That's... what, about 10 years now that I've never heard that number change.

Mmmm, strawmen are fun, aren't they?

Quote:
We all know that the universe has not existed for ever, where did that first matter come from.

Sheesh, do the words "I don't know" ever emerge from your mouth?

I don't have a bloody clue where the universe came from. Doesn't mean I'll accept any stupid answer someone makes up to ease my existential angst.

Quote:
It boggles my mind how some people just believe something

I believe nothing.

Quote:

Good thing you specified atheists... for a minute there I thought you were talking about those people who believe some bloke called Jehovah created it all without having an answer to where it all came from.

Quote:
I'm sorry, but you will never find the answer if you want to rely on science.

That's why I augment science with a set of tarot cards. Works wonders.

... Sure, but I didn't say it.

Everyone's a hypocrite, don't respect people because they seem not to be they're just better liars. Ironically since everyone is a hypocrite the most hypocritical statement is to accuse others of hypocrisy.

Quote:
If you truly have an open mind

I believe in psychics, that's how open minded I am. Then again I believe in psychics because I am psychic. To prove it the next words out of your mouth after "if you truly have an open mind" will be, "you will believe the thing I'm about to say that is a lynchpin of my argument".

Quote:
then you will realize that there are things that cannot be explained by science or your senses, and if you disregard them, you will never find the truth.

It's good to be the psychic.
