This child never stops amazing me.
With in 24 hours, ALL the signs I have ever shown her she has used. It was getting to the point that I was worried I wasnt teaching her correctly because the only one I have ever seen her use was Momma ( modified by her to be a fist with her thumb sticking out and bouncing her thumb off of her chin )
Well, this morning I got her up and she looked up at me from her crib before I picked her up, and CLEARLY said food. WOW! Shocked
So I asked her " what do you want?" wich is how I try to initiate ASL from her. Her responce was again food. Got her dressed, took her downstairs and gave her her meds, small warm bottle and started making her breakfast.
She looked at me several times asking for milk. CLEARLY.
Gave her some.
Last night, about 7 ... almost an hour ahead of schedule, she asks for her bath. Shocked She got it.
Then she asked for dada Shocked got it.
Asked for a bananna Shocked
after breakfast today she asked for more when I gave her some warm applejuice Shocked
Asked to be picked up Shocked

WOW! .... this sign language stuff?? AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In literally 24 hours, she has had FULL conversations ( well.. as full as they can be at 11 mos ) :-)

ohh.. thanks Soz, your co-parenting is wonderful! :-)

Oooh how exciting!!!!

That's awesome. You stuck with it, and look at the payoff!!

(That's true of a lot of parenting, come to think of it... you stick with it, and stick with it, and nothing seems to be happening, and you've basically given up but you stick with it anyway because why not and then BOOM!)

And now that she knows it'll get her what she wants, she'll be hooked.

Yay shewolf and bean!

Oh yeah. I am noq looking online at that site you gave me months ago , hunting words she can use.
I have my baby sign book out and am studying/memorizing more words. Now that the concept is there, i am going to hammer many more in. I think that I should have been introducing many more at a time then i was.. so now I am going to just be as fluent as possible with sign language myself so that she sees it all.
:-) !!!

Eh, don't worry about modeling too much. It's nice, it'll help, but the most important step has been taken (using it + getting results) and from now on the thing will be to stay relaxed and have fun with it.
