1994/95. The BEST year of my life. Squirrel Nut ZIppers, Southern Culture on the Skids were just taking off, we hung out (me and my sis) with all the musicians at all the bars of Chapel Hill non-stop. Awesome place.

Southern Culture played at the bar I worked in, great band, great gig

add- that must also have been 94 or 95 btw, and also close near perhaps the best year I've had. Funny

Yeah here in Utrecht - I volunteered at this place a few years, working behind the bar two nights a week - they had theatre nights, which were mostly boring except for the fun we had at the bar, concerts, lots of great concerts all kinds - we had this group of die-hard types always into the latest and weirdest who did the programming and were forever excused after getting into trouble - not just the dirty rock'n'roll or punk or crossover either, we also had the city's first jungle party (pre-drum'n'bass, w/a lot of white folk eager to try but not knowing how the f*ck to move to it) and the city's first easy tune party (all suited and tongue in cheek) - it was fun. There were also "new music" nights with the more experimental stuff - I remember the first time I saw somene rattle out an evening of engaging rhythms by moving within a cage that was wired up to the computer, you know, with the electronic gloves and stuff - interesting

For about one-two years out of the four I was there we were the closest-knit group ... very different kind of people, but all well-vague ... we were good

not to worry, i spoke in superlatives about you to my friend. didn't know he was actually applying for the same position! so he is not likely to pass anything about you to the bosses there, unless he makes stuff up... :-) you are way better qualified then him though, that i know. he's great and all, but this is not his schtick, so to speak.
