@Wilso,
Sigh. It's moved your way, Wilso.

It's wonderfully mild here (in Melbourne) today.

And not a moment too soon!

@Dutchy,
An incredible amount of rain here overnight, Dutchy! The likes of which haven't been seen for ages. I kept waking up in the wee small hours & wondering what that strange sound outside was.

That was the good news. Now the bad news: I now have a leaking roof! First time its had a test like this for yonks. (>Plink< >plink< sound as it drips into a strategically placed bucket.) Oh well ... worse things could happen, I guess.

Yeah the roof. Just what I needed ....

But the rain appears to have stopped now ... which is both good & bad!

@msolga,
The Arkansas Traveler

Oh, once upon a time in Arkansas,
An old man sat in his little cabin door
And fiddled at a tune that he liked to hear,
A jolly old tune that he played by ear.
It was raining hard, but the fiddler didn't care,
He sawed away at the popular air,
Tho' his rooftree leaked like a waterfall,
That didn't seem to bother the man at all.

A traveler was riding by that day,
And stopped to hear him a-practicing away;
The cabin was a-float and his feet were wet,
But still the old man didn't seem to fret.
So the stranger said "Now the way it seems to me,"
You'd better mend your roof," said he.
But the old man said as he played away,
"I couldn't mend it now, it's a rainy day."

The traveler replied, "That's all quite true,
But this, I think, is the thing to do;
Get busy on a day that is fair and bright,
Then patch the old roof till it's good and tight."
But the old man kept on a-playing at his reel,
And tapped the ground with his leathery heel.
"Get along," said he, "for you give me a pain;
My cabin never leaks when it doesn't rain."

@msolga,
With all due regard to your roof, I so hope you are wrong, and repairs will be an absolute necessity!

Wind gusts of up to 100km/h are expected to hit Victoria's Alpine areas in the next few hours as severe storms continue to lash the state.

Overnight, the state was drenched, with motorists forced to deal with localised flooding and poor visibility.

Full weather coverage

In Melbourne, 46mm of rain fell in the 24 hours to 9am today, with 56mm at Melbourne Airport, 48mm at Viewbank, 46mm at Scoresby and 37mm at Epping and Moorabbin.

The rain has continued since, with 10.6mm in Melbourne between 9am and noon, along with 15.4mm at Melbourne Airport, 15mm at Geelong, 17.8mm at Sheaoaks, 16.8mm at Avalon and 14mm at Viewbank.

BOM has issued a severe weather warning for the Alpine areas as well as the North-Eastern, Western, North Central, Northern Country, Wimmera, Central, West and South Gippsland districts.

A strong wind warning has also been issued for Victorian waters between the South Australia-Victoria border and Wilsons Promontory. Winds up to 30 knots were predicted for this morning and afternoon, with swells up to four metres.

Bloody hell!!!

Of course, this is predicted in climate change models.

Wouldn't it be nice if it were just a glitch!
