I really enjoyed reading this take on identity. What makes it interesting is the way familiar words like "mateship," " go," "Anzac," and "multiculturalism" are given meanings that go beyond their usual definitions. The descriptions connect language with Australia’s history, politics, sport, culture and everyday life while also pointing out some of the contradictions, within the identity. It’s a thought-provoking read because it encourages us to look at known Australian ideas from a different perspective rather than simply accepting the traditional definitions.
