Best of luck up your way, dapad. Fingers crossed for you.

You keep cool, too, Dutchy.

Cheers.

@dadpad,
Home again.

Didn't hang around after the film. We decided we should both go home. Carlton was extremely oppressive. Hot. And lots of leaves from the street trees blowing about crazily in the wind. (They couldn't wait till Autumn to shed their leaves. Heat & lack of moisture meant it happened far earlier this year.) And I was worried about how my cat was faring, so off homeward, with my car air conditioner & fan on, full blast ...

The temperature in the city reached 46 C this afternoon. Our hottest day in recorded history.

But I think the cool change must be coming through now because now it's down to only (!) 33 C. More, more!

Aghhh, I hope there aren't too many more days like today this summer.

Melbourne has experienced its hottest-ever recorded temperature, 46.4C at 3.04pm, while it reached 47.9C at Laverton, on the city's western outskirts.

The highest recorded temperature the Victoria has ever experienced was on January 7, 1906, when the mercury hit 50.7C in Mildura.

@dadpad,
What about your part of the state, dadpad?

Any relief in sight?

Surprised
... & now it's trying to rain. In little fits & bursts. Nothing one could call substantial.

Still very windy, though ....

@msolga,
We read about Australia
Floods in Queensland
Fires down south
High temperatures and drought
We sympathise and wonder

We've got ice and snow
But it's not too bad here.
I prefer the cold anyway, I'm not a great fan of summertime heat, unlike my wife.
But she needs her dark glasses.
Which she also needs in the wintertime btw.

@McTag,
Oz weather must be a great source of wonderment for you, McT. Wink
Believe me, it is to us, who live here, too!

Ah, she likes her Vitamin D! (What's the matter with you?)

But, before you next consider visiting to Oz in summer, check out the short & long-term weather forecasts! You could find yourself coping with far more than you bargained for. Like us, this summer.

Could you all go over to the Victoria Fire thread that Dadpad started and let us know where you are located on the map for us out of towners?

Much appreciated.

@Butrflynet,
Hey, hinge

Just heard on the radio that there's been fresh flooding in & around Cairns last night. (what next? sigh.)

Hoping you're all OK up there.
