The grand prize of a 2nd class rail ticket to Spencer Street Station, Melbourne Razz will be presented to the first person to answer the following questions:

(1) At what event today was this photograph taken?

(2) So why are these women behaving like this?

Oh, that was obviously far too easy Laughing

OK, gf & dadpad win trip to Spencer Street! Kucky devils, both of you! Razz

Dadpad, it was a powerfully windy day down here in the "big smoke" today! My little car was nearly blown off the Calder Highway on the way to work this morning! Shocked EeeeeeK!
But did thw wild weather stop these shameless women taking the day off work & attending "ladies' day" at the Oaks? Tipsy & half naked, even! ... tsk tsk. Razz

Keep your ticket msolga they stripped us of our railway line 20 years ago. Is Spencer street station finished?

Oh, I'll just convert it to a bus ticket, dadpad, or perhaps for the stage coach? Razz

Last time I drove (silly me!) to Spencer St, to collect a friend, it looked like a bomb site. Nowhere to stop, nowhere to park .... I assume some progress has been made since then, but I suspect it's got a way to go, yet.

Thanks awfully msolga but I'll stop here for a bit. Its been 4 years i think since i went to the big smoke so ive had my fill for this decade.

And the foetid air and gritty of the dusty, dirty city
Through the open window floating, spreads its foulness over all.

And in place of lowing cattle, I can hear the fiendish rattle
Of the tramways and the buses making hurry down the street,
And the language uninviting of the gutter children fighting,
Comes fitfully and faintly through the ceaseless tramp of feet.

And the hurrying people daunt me, and their pallid faces haunt me
As they shoulder one another in their rush and nervous haste,
With their eager eyes and greedy, and their stunted forms and weedy,
For townsfolk have no time to grow, they have no time to waste.

I can understand that, dadpad. You love the country:D You hate the city! Laughing

You know, I grew up in the country. But it never felt the right place of me. I loathed & hated growing up in a small country town. I itched to get out. The minute I could, I escaped! Study was my excuse. Phew! Free at last! Very Happy I took to the city like a duck to water & still, years later, I feel I'm in my right place. Very Happy Interesting how we're all so different in our choices, hey?

So I'll buy a bottle of sav. blanc with your prize money & toast the good life ... wherever we choose to live it! Very Happy
