@MontereyJack,
I just tried it out ... out loud ... & it doesn't sound that way to me at all, MontereyJack. Smile

It sounded like: "Noh worries".

Bu then, (Oz) English is my second language. Smile Wink

I'm from migrant stock & learned English as a little kid, while speaking another language at home.

I speak from participant observation of my Adelaidean relatives.
I stand in awe of their Australian "no", particularly my niece's.
I consider it a tour de force of voweldom.

Police shut down crucifixion reenactment

Organisers of a graphic crucifixion reenactment in Victoria, which made children cry and was shut down by police, have vowed to tone down the event next year.

Children were sobbing in distress at the sight of a man covered in fake blood who appeared to be nailed to a cross in the middle of a Geelong shopping precinct on Saturday afternoon, local police say.

But Heaven on Earth pastor Sarah Kenneally, who helped organise the event, said she saw no distressed children and police compromised freedom of religion by shutting down the reenactment.

"When the police stopped it I looked behind me and there were about eight children ... watching it and none of them looked distressed," she told AAP today.

"I think it was pretty sad that a Christian group couldn't express what Easter was truly about for one hour - it wasn't like we were trying to take over the city or tell everyone they were going to hell."

A Geelong police spokesman said passersby were concerned about the reenactment in Malop Street, particularly by the man posing as Jesus covered in blood.

The reenactment was shut down for breaching the peace, he said.

"Kids were particularly upset and crying," the spokesman told AAP. ... <cont>

@msolga,
thank you mel gibson

listened to a very good podcast from the show Hindsight, about the fight over mining at Coronation Hill

don't know much about Hawk, but his stance and comments about christian beliefs being no more "mythical" than aboriginal beliefs as pretty bold

Why?

Do you mean he was bold to say so, or that his belief that this is so is bold in some way?

@dadpad,
I have a feeling he will need to raise the GST to finance his plans, he is talking billions of dollars, where is that money going to come from?

I think you might be right dutch, the other thought i had was along the lines of how to pay for the stimulus package(s). I reckon the GST grab might well be figuring in his thoughts.

@dlowan,
bold to say so, in my opinion, and great to hear it said in my opinion as well

i can't imagine any of the recent prime ministers in my country making such a logical (controversial) statement

Kevin was a warrior
in the land of the midnight oil
with a health plan for hire
and fighting to be done.
A deal was made in canbra
on a dark and stormy day
He set out for Victoria
to join the bloody fray.

Anyone else thoroughly sick & tired of reading, listening, watching the non-stop media coverage about this person?

Is there no way we can switch it off? Neutral
