President Trump will have to work hard to do worse than his predecessors, under whose supervision this situation slowly developed.

@Brandon9000,
He's already done that. Not to confuse his predecessors with reasonable men.

So, since the president is missing the plethora of easy solutions to the situation, perhaps you could outline one of them for us.

@Brandon9000,
Since you think there are easy solutions, how about giving your take on it.

I think that he is dealing with a situation in which there all the solutions are utterly horrendous, just some slightly more horrendous than others. There would have been slightly less awful solutions years ago. However, if you think that Trump has already messed up the situation, I assume that you think that there are much better alternative strategies he should have taken. I am wondering why you don't describe any of them.

@Brandon9000,
I did a thread that featured alternate solutions, but nobody responded to it. If I find the thread, I will provide a link.

@edgarblythe,

It is against China's interests to have the US nuke North Korea into oblivion and then conquer the remains.

Therefore it is against China's interests to let North Korea start nuking American cities.

If China does allow North Korea to start nuking American cities, then I guess they had better get used to an American presence on their border, because we won't be in much of a compromising mood after a few of our cities get nuked.

I thought you were completely wrong on both the notion that the US is pursuing a one Korea policy, and that this is the obstacle to peace. However, I didn't think it was really worth arguing about so I didn't respond to your thread when you started it.

It is true that we think a peaceful reunification of North and South Korea would be a nice outcome. I suspect most of the rest of the world would think it a nice outcome as well.

But the United States is hardly actively pursuing such an outcome.

US policy is to not allow South Korea to be violently conquered.
