I am posting, primarily because I wish for others to hear of my experience with the Goddard Schools. The school in particular is the Corneluis, NC location.
In mid-November, my son's teacher told my wife that the school intended to move my son into the next class. The proposed date to move would have made my son 10 months old in 12+ month class. Further, in the upper class, my son would be 5 months younger than the closest aged child. We stated our concern. We further stated that if we felt he was ready, we would consider moving up one month early. The school's administration never discussed these matters with us.
In late December, 2004, we were once again told the same thing. We continued our previous position. This time, Goddard stated that they would allocate a specific (Nina) teacher to work one on one with our son, to assist in an early move. We agreed but still stated that no matter the progress, we would not allow our son to move up more than one month early. The specific teacher was not assigned. Later that week, we heard from teachers at the school (unconfirmed rumor), that the a child related to the Director was due to star in my sons class, despite there being no available space in the class. The class ran outside of the Goddard specified ratio of 1:4.
In early January, 2005, my wife took my son to school one morning (normally my duty). When she arrived, another child's sheets were on my sons assigned crib. My wife inquired and was told that our son was "transitioning". We stated that this was unacceptable, particularly considering Administrations lack of consulting us. Further, the teachers in my sons class stated to us and to Goddard Administration that our son was not prepared to move up to the next class at such an early age. Additionally, the teachers in the 12+ month class stated that my son was not ready to move up to the next class at such an early age.
Mid January, 2005, we consulted Goddard Headquarters. After some investigation, the representative told my wife that we should discuss these matters with the location Owner and she believed that this could be "worked out. The following day, I took my son to school uneventfully. That afternoon, my wife went to pick him up. When my wife arrived, the owner (and four School employees) surrounded my wife and "escorted" her to the office. In the office, the Owner informed my wife that we were no longer welcome at their facility. So much for Goddard HQ's idea that this could be "worked out".
The level of care provided by the teachers is acceptable. But, they have poor Leadership. The Goddard Schools Management and Customer Service is among the worst I have ever experienced.
