<making mental note to pack some sleepwear>
215 West 94th Street Between 94th St. & Broadway
has dropped $30/night
<mulling>
You're welcome! What's the name of the place on West 94th? That's pretty close to where I live, so I could walk over there and take a look at it if you'd like, but probably not before the weekend.
It's one of the Apple Cores, mmmmmmmmm, Quality/Comfort - one of that group. Funny, I've blanked out the name (and I'm tossing seals now, so not at the right site) but I recall that the hotel was built in 1903 - that the lobby was smaller than my tiny living room - and that it was only a few blocks left/west of Central Park. Good location for walking up to join the walking tour of Spanish Harlem. What a weird buncha things to remember - but not the name.
It seems this is going to take timing. Some prices are going down, others are going up ... timing ... timing.
If you like mysteries, it's also very near one of the oldest all-mystery bookstores: Murder Ink. I'm not sure I'd walk to Spanish Harlem from there, though (isn't Spanish Harlem on the east side?).
The friend I was talking to about the walking - walked around the park - Little India and Spanish Harlem are easily part of the same walk - up the west side and across and down the east side. It's all a matter of walking perspective.

So ya should pack up the girl, and bring her to NYC at the end of April - and reminisce.
tempting... very tempting!
I'm bringing Canajun candy ...
(I wonder if word of Canajun candy could bring SealPoet back to the A2K light?)
Candy anyone?
Just got some news at work that will mean that not only will I be bringing candy, but I'll be able to afford a room with a private bathroom!
Any particular candy you'd like me to bring along, bree?
SealPoet and Timber have a particular fondness for McIntosh's Toffee. I wonder what New Yorker's crave.
Actually, this New Yorker doesn't have much of a sweet tooth -- the closest I come to eating candy is the roasted peanuts I occasionally buy from street vendors.
chocolate covered toffee is my favorite. But don't bring much because I'll eat it.
And congratulations! Private baths are always nice.
SealPoet and Timber are planning to be here too? That will be very nice.
(I don't think the lads are planning to be there, though I'm hoping the sound of McIntosh's will bring up our SealPoet back)
Am I mistaken? I think Dys and Diane will be here that week too. Is that right? do you know?
< I think dys started a thread, and then they booked a flight straight through to London - will search later >
ehBeth--
Exactly what dates will you be in NYC? I may be able to get away.
...from New York?
(shut up, George)
