It was indeed a beautiful day for outdoor activities here in Manhattan. I took advantage of it by walking through Central Park on my way from the Upper West Side to the Met, where I took in the Chanel exhibit, which was interesting even to a fashion ignorama like me.

On my way back through the park, I saw a woman who looked a bit like Lola. I quickly saw that it wasn't she (and now I have confirmation that Lola was elsewhere this afternoon), but for a second I wondered what the appropriate etiquette is for greeting someone whom you know only virtually.

very interesting question, bree. I would hope you'd just walk up and say, "howdy." It would be funny to actually run into each other, wouldn't it?

I saw the Chanel exhibit around Christmas time. It is interesting and it's short so I felt that I was accomplishing something when I saw it in it's entirety.

Yep...just walking up and saying, "Howdy" would work.

That is what Joe Nation did with me the first time we met. I was in the wrong place....and he, having given up....saw me standing on the street and just walked up to me and said, "Howdy." (Or something like that.)

Roger and I almost missed each other, until I went over and knocked on his car window as he was about to leave. (Glad it wasn't some stranger, heh).

EhBeth spotted me immediately. Of course I was a woman-with-crutch--but she was a two-legged tornado.

Tornado? You're going to scare people, Noddy.
I am a quiet and placid sort.

Cool

Sure you are!!!!

You were gonna take a bite out of a cop if we didn't find someplace where you could eat meat!

Gimme a break.

Quiet and placid, indeed.

Noddy....I like "tornado!" It does a better job than "quiet and placid."

Vibrant. Vibrant like a small nuclear reactor. Vibrant.

I suppose a nuclear reactor shimmies....

Dagnabbit, this all reminds me of me meeting Paola for the first time at the Met Museum. She was the vibrating person, me the memorist.

She told me quickly about her diagnosis and then went on about her ny life, which was involved with the museum and other stuff including refs to hub and children.

I bring this up since I was recently tossing my well-loved paperback mysteries-police procedurals on art and italy -

and just yesterday, as I was dumping them, I saw the name Lucentini.

Well, I saved that one. Not she or her husband, but a related person with his own deep and dramatic history - wrote that.

touching, to me, how some of us can connect.

I'm not coming into town. Weather is very iffy...and it is raining like crazy here.

I'll be in next Thursday. I'll get in touch before I come.

Frank:
Have I been away this long? I'm down the shore, near Deal. Are you in No. Jersey? So. Jersey? I visit Staten Island more than Manhatten and I live on the 11th floor of a facing North, High-Rise near Bruce Springsteen Country, hint, hint. Now as far as Lola, she seems like one cool female, kinda like myself! It's tuesday and I'm just replying! Trying to catch up and looks like some new posters here. Where was I? Wildwood in Cape May!

It's true.......he's wild about her. It's interesting that our profound love for our children comes as such a surprise on the day they are born. I mean, you know you're looking forward to meeting the whole person that's been floating around inside you for months, but the first vision of the baby herself is awe inspiring. Every time they handed my babies to me to feed (while still in the hospital) I would say, "Isn't she wonderful?" And that feeling never stops, even though sometimes on limited occasions, through their teen years, I've wished it would.

Lola, If that's your daughter, you must be stunning, too! She is very beautiful! Very, very, pretty! Looks like you have a beautiful life!

Hey Teeny

I live in Middlesex County. I'm down on the beach at Joey Harrison's Surf Club (or on the beach immediately south of it) almost every Saturday.

Love the Jersey shore.

Love Manhattan also.

I usually meet Joe Nation, Lola, Blatham, and Kicky on Thursdays for drinks and a sammich. Then we cut up any A2Kers who are not there.

If you'd like to join up some time....we love to have you. (Be careful of Kicky, though, 'cause he might try to use a rather self-serving definition of "love to have you.")

And "yes"....Lola is both "cool" and lovely. Those are actually her legs in her avatar.

If you send me a personal message, a PM, I'll reply with my email address and phone number. I would just love to meet all of you. These posts are too crazy and funny! I'm busy with the American Legion this summer, installing new officers and I will be covering for a friends' business when she goes on vacation. Me? I'm supposed to be retired, but I can't tell, I'm so busy all the time. I like the way you spell sandwich! You're so crazy. If Lola is from texas, I must be from New Orleans! been in Jersey since 70', married a Yank from Staten Island and been here ever since! Once you go Navy, you never go back, I always say! Look forward to meeting you!

This is unfortunately and obviously not true....but thanks Frank for trying. Are we getting together tomorrow? I hope so, that would be fun.

Thank you teenyboone for your compliments. But I'm not the mother of Bernie's beautiful daughter. However, I have three beautiful daughters of my own. Between us....we have four. I also have a handsome grandson (age 19 this month) and a beautiful 2 and a half year old, hell raising grand daughter. I hope you'll join us when we next get together.

Will it be tomorrow?

I will be in town tomorrow. Gonna call you guys when I get in...which will probably be about 2:30. (Mayabe 1:30)

Kicky...if you in the thread...post and let me know you've got this info...and that you still have my cell phone number (and Joe's).

I'll PM Teeny and see if she can make it....and if not this time...she will surely meet us in one of our weekly meets.

Yeah. For most of us here, it was unknowable one way or the other, and we all believe in Frank.
