Hi Eva
Well OK about the trade-off, just as long as certain people aren't coached to use certain words in their posts so that certain ads are displayed.
But I still see ads at top and side.
I believe some of our silverware is missing.
I had a dream last night...it was a beautiful dream...I was on the balcony of a beautiful apartment on the upper east side...there was a bearded man wearing a very cool hat standing beside me pointing out the Carlyle Hotel building...he leaned over the railing to point it out...I pushed him...just one quick push...he seemed to fall forever...and then the dream changed...I was on the balcony alone, smoking a cigar...it was MY balcony now...it was MY beautiful apartment...it was MINE, ALL MINE!!!
...then I woke up...back in my own crappy little apartment on the upper east side...I let out a sigh of angst and envy...I looked around...my eyes happened upon the new silverware I had recently "acquired"...I smiled...
<snicker>
It was SO much fun everyone! Kicky, with a few thousand dollars your apartment could be at least one-third as cool as Lola's - for a few thousand extra, I could be your personal decorator.
littlek! You're a post-gathering tap-tap-tapper and ahemmer with the best of 'em. Cough up some DETAILS, missy!
waiting for stories - err well maybe adventures?
I have awakened to a much nicer day (weather wise) than yesterday. It was one of those Blade Runner nights last night. We were wrapped in a cloud. But I'm missing the a2k traveling gang. We had a GOOD time last night! Now if only I could find my camera, I'd post a few pix. Looking, looking. I have put it in one of those unusual places and it's evading me..........back when I find it.
ok, I found it............it was buried underneath a few mounds of clothes in my closet......working on pix now.
Camera took pictures last night. After pictures were taken, clothes were mounded upon it.
hmmm....
well, it looks like the camera has to charge for a while before I can load the images.....rats! I want to see the pix NOW!
Laughing..........well, I change clothes several times a day whether I need to or not.......how else will I ever wear it all?
funny
Ok, I'll give more of a summary than anything else. Joe, of course, will be the one to give more wonderfully written detail. (I got home at nearly 4 am, and haven't had coffee yet, so......).
Dag and I arrived exactly an hour late. We found parking easily in 'alphabet city' as Dag said we would. We walked the three blocks to the 7A while I splashed through puddles in new shoes, and walked as fast as I could to the restaurant and it's bathroom.
Beth was outside, waiting. We'd contacted Kickypants and Lola about our late arrival time, but I had only Beth's hotel's number and no real way of reaching her. She'd waited for us in a nearby park with rich young women and prostitutes. She took some beautiful pix of wheel barrows and dirt there.
We went inside, took turns using the loo, and kicky showed up within a few minutes. We had a couple early afternoon drinks and some food before leaving to wander around the lower east side. There are some pix from that restaurant (there are pix from every step of the way) that had Cav in them.
We saw some fantastic little gardens hidden behind cast iron fences which were lined with shrubs and trees as screening. Peeks through the taller plants showed stone pathways through wide swaths of mayapple, hosta, grape hyacinth, epimedium, etc. Benches were placed under kawanza cherries and a thicket of some many stemmed shrub. Such beautiful nuggets.
We wound up in Chinatown, passing through little italy where hosts of restaurants were speaking to kicky in italian, trying to lure us into their stuccoed, dry comfort. I bought a 5 dollar baseball cap that said "What's the f**k" for my housemate who is trying to learn to swear in american. We dodged into a little blue-tarp-covered outdoor market and down hallways that looked like allies, where people were all selling the same scarves, pashaminas, sunglasses and silver/gold jewelry for varying prices. I bought two cheesy, but cool, pieces of jewelry for 2 bucks each, Beth bought a ReallyBigBag, Dag bought a yellow-orange pashamina.
We realized it was getting late and started to head to the upper east side. We were looking for flowers and wine to bring with us and needed to stop at kicky's on the way to Lola's. We gave up looking for fleurs in the lower east side (where'd all the flower stalls go?) and grabbed a taxi north.
The driver had a death wish.
We arrived near Kicky's, grabbed some flowers and wine, went up to get his bottle and see his apt. We gave his cat a nipped toy and watched him play for a while. We did NOT check kicky's sheets. Kicky wanted us to listen to a song, but I was already half-way out the door feeling worried about being late and Beth was nearly in the court yard because the apt was too hot for her.
We walked the three blocks to Lola's place and went up (19 floors!). The apt was absolutely stunning, as if anyone would doubt that, and full of online friends. Joe was there, as was frank and his woman, Nancy. Blatham and Lola were there, of course, and Joe's wife, Lois (right?) showed up a little later.
The apartment is adorned with a comfortably ecclectic collection of carpets, padded foot stools, couches and chairs. A gorgeous, darkstained bookshelf with sliding ladders dominated one full wall and showed of photos between the dozens of candles. Glass cabinets displayed collected bits of glass art. There was food every where! A spread of mediteranian delights - olives, cheeses, hummus, seasoned tomato slices - awaited us....
The balcony was wonderful. I made myself look down over the railing, but then retreated back against the building when I was out there.
Whoa, this seems to be more than a summary. Maybe more later......

Wow - and you found it!?!
I think Beth will be loading pix off her camera for days (maybe weeks) after she gets home.
We woke up this morning and had no hot water for a couple of hours. We thought we'd have to take the dishes out to the washateria. But now, the blessed hot water has arrived. Bernie's washing the dishes........isn't he a nice guy?
My only disappointment of the evening is that Set didn't come along........maybe next time.........huh, Set?
Little k looked beautiful, as usual. Her red shoes were an additional extra touch of color. And they were very practical. I'll let her give the report about how they held up on the walking.......actually I never heard how the group spent their afternoon in New York. The weather was so yucky, which was too bad. So I'm eager to hear about the first part of the day. I couldn't join them as I'd planned......so now I need to be filled in.
Did I tell you K, that you should get down to New York more often? We need to do some kicking up of our heels. Dag, you'll coax her to come with you, I hope.
Mrs. Frank brought me a big candle which she had decorated herself. This morning, as I get a better look at it, I realize I didn't look at it closely enough last night. It's lovely.........and she brought it in a gift bag that will have to be hung on the wall. She said I could re-gift it.......but I don't think so. It's too nice to give away.
More later.
Things are shaping up. Thanks for the accounts, guys!

'Tis so, I'm afraid. But...did you notice there are no ads at the top and side anymore? It's a trade-off. We've learned to ignore the greenies, you will too.
What do you mean? I still have ads...
Lola's place sounds as awesome as her online café. Littlek, I worried about your shoes... glad they were sensible enough.
Why thank you, Lola, coming from you I take that as a high compliment. I'm glad your hotwater returned..... does that happen to everyone in NYC?
I do hope to get to NY more often.
Can we get a description of picture of the candle?
Other funny bits of the day that I forgot in my original post about it:
We all got sucked into a gorgeous tattoo studio after a quick walk through a street fair. The interior was painted indian red - that oh-so-much-better-than-brick color. Go ahead, Dag, get that nose piercing you've always wanted - and she did it! The jewelry at that place was awsome (and I don't mean lobe stretchers and belly rings).
<and>
At the end of the night, after Lola's, we saw Beth to a bus that would take her to her hotel. The bus was pulling up as we got to the stop, so we yelled our goodbies and our nice to see yous to Beth's running backside. She didn't even wave from within as the bus pulled away.
My shoes were great, piffka. They resisted the puddles and the city grime. They didn't chaffe, even sans-socks and without a breaking-in period. And, they were super comfy! Love them!
To you scrabble folks, look for lojo at the scrabble site - she's Joe's wife and she's supposed to be good (watch out Soz!).
