Roberta--

The Poconos and the Big Apple are only two hours apart. I don't do cities well in the summertime. I'm a fragile little flower that wilts on sun-baked asphalt.

Come September....

************

For the rest of the world--

Roberta, in person as on line, is a genial Force of Nature. If a Jewish Girl from the Lower East Side could be inhabited by a Greek Goddess, that goddess would be Athena: 80% Wisdom and 20% Warrior with the potential of switching to full warrior mode on very slight provocation.

Noddy, I'm the same way about summer. I'm a bit more congenial when it's cool. Let's not forget about this.

As for the rest of your remarks, well, what can I say? You're almost 100 percent right. Yes, I'm Athena incarnate--a well-kept secret until now. I left the owl at home. This particular boid doesn' care much for the west side. Picky, picky.

But I'm not from the lower east side. My parents are from there. I was born and reared in the Bronx.

Beth, Waiting to hear from you. Assuming you had a safe trip home and you're resting up.

Our afternoon flight was cancelled (many many many were cancelled, stemming from the storms in Florida yesterday).

They finally got us on a plane leaving JFK at 2:00 a.m.

Just got home.

About to go snooze for a bit.

The dogs provided a lovely greeting. Set hasn't noticed the home invader yet.

EhBeth--

Flight cancelled? I'm surprised you didn't check your luggage and walk home.

I'm glad you made it safely.

I'm glad everyone got home safely.

hehehe

The fella eventually noticed. The dogs and I slept til around noon. I'm still short a coupla hours of sleep, but I'll catch up. The dogs have been STARING at me a lot.

The Empress and brendalee thought napping and picnicing at the airport was an adventure. The Empress in particular is ready to head back to New York (she's thinking of going again in about two weeks, once she's recovered from this Friday's surgery. The woman's crazy!)

As soon as I figure out where the cord for the camera is ... there will be pix, of sorts.

Nothing recognizable. That's the deal.

Backs of heads. Hands. Elbows. Silhouettes. The occasional profile. Feet.

Back home again, pleasant flight though I had to hurry in Frankfurt to get my connection (they checked the camera bag three times!).

Photos will be posted later.

probably checking for "naughty" pictures Laughing !

some years ago when we were leaving from frankfurt we went to see a customs officer to reclaim some of the sales taxes we had paid in germany .
mrs h had bought some hummel figurines and knew she'd get some money back . the customs officer duly stamped the documents and muttered : "i'll never understand why so many people want to take hummels overseas ! " - mrs h shot him a dirty look , took the cheque and bought some french soap with the reclaimed money Laughing - she probably would have bought german soap had it not been for the "mutterings" !
